Scotch Ale, or a Wee Heavy. At 9% alcohol, this big, brown brew is surely to warm you under that kilt. Malty, and much more than a wee delicious.

Pour is a brown with a small white head. Aroma is sweet caramel mixed with dark fruit. Flavor is again caramel with some butterscotch and raisin. Finish leaves an almost dark cherry on the tongue. Alcohol is not noticeable. This was a decent malt heavy beer.

22oz bottle 6/25/13 (Binny’s Naperville)-46° in Tulip-Pours a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, and roasted malt. Taste of caramel, toffee, and malt. This medium bodied brew hides the ABV very well. A little weak but still tasty.

Bottle. Pours brown with a tan head. Malty, caramel aroma. The taste is similar, a sweet beer that’s got a full, nice mouthfeel with a toffee finish. Decent, but seems a little simple, not too complex. 9% alcohol.

A very malty beer with well masked alcohol and little bitterness. Nothing unpleasant was noted and there was some caramel/sweetness to it.

Bottle. Pours transparent amber color, very little tan head, dissipates quickly, no lacing. Aroma is malt and caramel dominated with a little raisin. Taste is sweet, with molasses and caramel malt . Medium body. Didn’t notice the presence of alcohol surprising for 9%

Bottle at tasting. Pours clear brandy amber, small beige head, dissipates quickly, little lacing. Aroma is caramel dominated with perhaps a bit of raisin. Flavor is much the same, medium sweet, light metallic finish. Medium body. Nothing bad, nothing special. I will say that the ABV was well masked!

CanIHave4Beers (3260) - Pouring Bus, Iowa, USA - NOV 23, 2012
Pours a very deep red with a small but resilient head.

The aroma is sweet and malty with a lightly toasty character and a little bit of rich toffee.

The flavor is malty in a lightly toasty/not overly sweet kind of way. The beer is lightly fruity, not there’s just not a lot going on here. It’s just sort of a strong, lightly boozy, malt forward ale. Nothing about it is standout, nothing about it is offensive.

12oz. bottle. Malty, gently sweet, nutty aroma, some faint toffee and dried fruit in the background. Dark amber in color with a very slight, fading head. Flavor profile is malty, lightly toasty, some dark brown sugar and faint raisin towards the finish, virtually no detectable hop bitterness, but alcohol is extremely well hidden as well. Low in effervescence and smooth on the palate, body is medium-full. Not the most flavorful example of the style I have had, but very easy to drink.
