2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
A reddish copper ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet intense butterscotch with burned caramel and solvent notes, fake raisins, weird. In mouth, a sweet cloying fruity caramel malt with loads of chemical berry extract, astringent notes, raspy and unpleasant. On tap at Angelís Trumpet.

1.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 4/20
Brown pour, tan head. Aroma is straight up raisins and a bad pinot noir wine. Flavor is much the same. Must be infected or else the brewers made a grave mistake bottling this.

22oz bomber pours sort of brown plum juice with virtually no head. The aroma offers up prunes and caramel and cut by a sour red wine note. The taste is similar with prunes, dates and caramel mixing with red wine like sourness and drying tartness. Seems a bit off.

Nose of caramel, toffee, toast, green apples, and subtle hints of smoke. Pours brownish amber, thin head. The flavor has notes of caramel and toffee up front followed by green apple, light acididty, and a subtle hint of peat in the finish. Somewhat thin body for style. Kind of musty earthy yeast characteristic that i got in the wheat beer too. Interesting house yeast. Not bad though.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Sampled on 5/28/2011. This scotch ale pours a dark reddish amber color from a 22oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is caramel, fruity and sweet. A medium bodied Scotch ale. The malts are fruity and sweet, there is a touch of tartness/sourness that I an assuming is NOT supposed to be there. The hops are earthy and herbal. Decent to mild carbonation. I am going to assume that this beer is somewhat less than normal. It has a whole lot of malt sweetness and the tartness/sourness and there is something else going on here. It does not taste like a scotch ale. Its kind of interesting, but I am assuming not what the brewer intended. At least this bottle opened without shattering and cutting me, like the wheatopia botlle did early this evening. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is sweet and tart.

22 oz bottle via Hayduke. Shared on a Facebook chat. Pour was an attractive clear mahogany with a light tan head that didnít last long. The aroma was, as expected, malt but with some molasses. Feel was substantial and somewhat fizzy. Flavor was really interesting. At first there would seem to be little to taste but then flavors began to roll over the tongue. They included chocolate, mint, molasses, cream, and some funk. This is the kind of beer that makes me love craft beer. It was tasty and was very challenging to identify the flavors it offered. I liked it!
