Bottle. Pours transparent amber color, very little tan head, dissipates quickly, no lacing. Aroma is malt and caramel dominated with a little raisin. Taste is sweet, with molasses and caramel malt . Medium body. Didnít notice the presence of alcohol surprising for 9%

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Ft Lauderdale, Fl. - Total Wines - 12 oz bottle. Deep, dark brown pour, quickly fading khaki colored head, Aroma has some peat, cherry, some nuttiness. Delectable flavor with some nice toffee accents, a hint of chocolate, some earthy peat notes in the back end. Thick, smooth mouthfeel. Will keep my eye out for this brewer when I head to San Jose next week.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours cloudy red color. Light cream colored head. Pretty decent lacing.
Aroma is wow. Thereís a lot going on here. I smell raisins, figs, prunes. Itís sweet smelling. While the smell is very nice, itís sweet, I donít smell a lot of malt in this, although I think Iím supposed to.
Taste is sweet, and hoppy tart. Itís a little strange. I can taste the alcohol in it. The taste isnít bad, but itís not quite right. The nose and the taste donít quite match up.
Mouthfeel is medium to full. While the taste is sweet, the finish is bitter. Itís not so drinkable.
Overall itís okay. Yeah, itís malty, but itís way too sweet to really enjoy it. I donít think I would try it again.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
350ml bottle, pours dark brown with a small off white head. Aromas are mainly malts, caramel, toffee, roast, with apple and butterscotch, blackberry and redcurrant. Was shaping up to be good but the roastiness takes over the palate and ends with a long roasty, bitter finish, that is not quite working for me. Medium bodied, oily texture, medium sweet, heavy bitter finish.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
11th March 2015
Lighly hazy amber - red beer, small cream colour head. Palate is smooth and a little airy, modest fine carbonation. Smooth and semi sweet malts, mild caramel and soft malt cream. A trace of well integrated apple sits under mellow Port Wine and ripe orange. Finishes with a little alcohol spice, really not too much. Flavoursome and drinkable.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Artistic Table in Livermore. It pours a dark amber color with a khaki head. The aroma is subtly malty with dark red fruit, plum and raisin bread. The flavor is very sweet and caramelly with more raisin, fig newton and a little candied fruit. It has a sweet bready, fruity finish. Oddly satisfying for me. I was surprised I liked this one as much as I did.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
On tap @ Hermitage. Clear amber/brownish pour with a khaki head. Pretty sweet and malty. A lot of toasted malts, nuts, and bread. Kind of floral. A decent enough malt profile. Could use some more fruit character. The flavor is kind of on the bitter and astringent side. A lot of bread and toasted grain. Kind of husky and peppery. A bit of raisin and grape skin. Maybe on the earthy side as well. Weird acidity on the finish.

2.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Approximately half of a 12 oz. bottle, consumed on 10-11-14 (I used the remainder for cooking). Pours a clear, dark copper with a moderate amount of effervescence and a small to moderate amount of beige head. Sweet, malty aroma features scents of raisin, apricot, plum, caramel, and purple grape juice. Too sweet and fruity in smell to be ideal. Flavors of chocolate and chocolate with cherries. Excessively malty with way too little in the way of hops. Milky and unpleasant taste. Well subpar flavor for craft beer, so much so that I couldnít finish the beer (and, as I wrote earlier, used the rest for cooking). Medium body, lighter than the ABV would suggest. Utterly forgettable palate effects. Iím not a fan; this is not my kind of beer. I understand that the name warns me of the maltiness, but, regardless, this beer does not taste good.
