Scotch Ale, or a Wee Heavy. At 9% alcohol, this big, brown brew is surely to warm you under that kilt. Malty, and much more than a wee delicious.

I love the experimental brews that this place is making. A big malty brew that has a ton of flavor but can be a bit hard on the palate.

22oz bomber pours sort of brown plum juice with virtually no head. The aroma offers up prunes and caramel and cut by a sour red wine note. The taste is similar with prunes, dates and caramel mixing with red wine like sourness and drying tartness. Seems a bit off.

Very nice beer; potent, and reminiscent of the Belgian styles. Dark coloured and slightly syrupy. Served at Tied House Mountain View, not sure if it was from bottle or tap.

2010 bottle. I’m not sure what a fresh bottle offers, but this one was lighter, malt-wise than what I hoped and also much more crisp than anticipated. That being said, this was a very drinkable and tasty beer, especially after the aging. I imagine that’s not the case with a new bottle, but that’s only a guess. Pretty good beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark amber small head. Sweet molasses at the start with a dry end with a little alcohol that comes through.

22oz bottle. Rating #23. Dark amber pour with a small head. Pleasant aroma, dark fruit, a little cherry and caramel malt. Flavor is a little off, almost a hint of vinegar, but not quite there yet, grape or cherry skins as well. (1883)

Aroma / Bouquet: Typical Scotch Ale, with some uncharacteristic fruit. Appearance / Color: Dark amber. Taste: some caramel, but sour fruitiness.. this is similar to a Belgian red ale like Duchesse. Palate: The body is a bit thin, light mouthfeel. The finish is malti-sourness on the back of the tongue. It’s ok, but not great. The strength... it does not drink like a 9% beer, but then again (in my mind) neither does Sierra Nevada Bigfoot. Blessings!

started off kind of promising, but where’s the smoke i was hearing about? really is a malt bomb, but the malt is more akin to that of newcastle than anything else in my opinion. seemed like newcastle x2 to me....not a compliment. 9& abv was well hidden and allowed a decent mouthfeel, but the whole thing tasted a little dirty to me. who knows how old the bottle was. no hops at all. price was decent but the beer wasnt.

22 oz. bottle from BevMo (Tucson) - Pours a clear light brown color with a half finger thick light tan head. Very light spotty lacing. Aroma is sweet toasted malt. Flavor is sweet toasted malt and some dark esters. Medium body. A decent beer.
