The newest member of our Single Hop Series of IPAs features the Australian hop varietal Ė Galaxy! This is the second Australian hop weíve used. Nelson Sauvin Single Hop IPA was released in early 2012, and turned out to be a very interesting and well-received IPA. Like other Australian varietals, Galaxy is creating quite a buzz with hop heads worldwide.

Aroma is intense with apricot and grapefruit. The galaxy hop has an interesting flavor profile: dry, slightly tangy, but features a lot of pine resin. Great IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma is pine, very light tropical fruit and mild/medium sweetness. The flavor is grapefruit, light tropical fruit, malts and very strong hop resin notes and medium bitterness in the finish.

It poured a clear amber color with a small off-white head. The aroma was notes of citrus, tropical fruit and some hoppiness. The taste was much the same, with a little sweetness and medium bitterness. Very nice.

Bottle. Amber body with a frothy, off-white head. Aroma of earthy hops, caramel, toasted grain, grapefruit, pine. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Big hop flavor from raw leafy hops, pine. Long, lingering bitterness. Thick malts in the backbone. Not a favorite.

22oz bottle 7/8/13 (Binnyís Naperville)-50į in Shaker-Pours a medium amberish orange with a small loose white head. Aroma of citrus, pine, and slight malt. Taste of the same with more malt. This medium bodied brew is anice tasting IPA.

22oz bottle from Binnyís Lincoln Park. Pours a cloudy, deeper orange colored body with a finger-width, creamy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a soapy lacing throughout. Aroma is sweet caramel malts with a good amount of grapefruit pines and some tropical fruits. Flavor is similar. Sweeter caramels and plenty of citrusy pines. Fairly bitter throughout with a few tropical fruit notes before this finishes dry, bitter, resiny, fruity, and somewhat sweet from the malts before leaving a lengthy aftertaste. Medium body and a somewhat soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, a decent IPA. Firm caramels and a sturdy malt backing with plenty of bitter, citrusy, straightforward hops. Not bad.

Much better than the Citra rendition. This one is fairly bitter with the typical hard-to-pinpoint galaxy taste.

Sampled at an rsnls tasting. A golden pour with minimal head. This smells fruity with citrus. It resembles Cascade by aroma. The flavor is also fruity and has semblences of Vascade. It also has differences. More dryness. This is ok.

Bomber. Pours a hazy medium golden-orange (not sure if itís a chill haze or not...) nice white head with mad lacing. Nose is dank, tropical fruits and pine (guava and passion fruit) with some caramelly malt notes in there too. Mouth is medium bodied and surprisingly drier than I expected, lots of tropical fruit hoppiness up front that rides a meaty malt backbone but isnít overshadowed by it. Finishes with some breadiness and fades out with a long, lingering bitter finish. Only knock on the hop profile is that I didnít get that white grape character that is tell-tale in Galaxy hops. Still very nice. I might have to run back to Binnyís and pick up the Citra release before itís gone!
