The newest member of our Single Hop Series of IPAs features the Australian hop varietal – Galaxy! This is the second Australian hop we’ve used. Nelson Sauvin Single Hop IPA was released in early 2012, and turned out to be a very interesting and well-received IPA. Like other Australian varietals, Galaxy is creating quite a buzz with hop heads worldwide.

22 oz. bottle. Reddish amber pour with a medium sized eggshell colored head. Aroma of pine, grapefruit, citrus peel, and lots of dankness. Mild caramel malt. Flavor is strongly bitter, tons of citrus peel and grapefruit. Mild grape skins, some pine and hidden booze. Some touches of spruce and evergreen. Nice, very bitter flavor. Medium bodied, fair amount of carbonation. Finishes long and bitter. This is a nice IPA. I like this hop choice.

Bottle. Amber beer with a dark cream head. Grapefruit and light tropical fruit aroma. Tropical fruit and pine flavor with light grapefruit. Medium bodied. Good bitterness. Tropical fruit and pine lingers with light grapefruit and light malt.

Pours a cloudy golden orange on tap with thin off-white head that leaves light lace. Aroma of big resinous tropical citrus and zesty earth of the galaxy. Taste follows, big on the hips and not much else, but I’m a fan of it, so great stuff. Really nice.

Right up there with Citra and Mosaic as one of the pungent citrusy varietals that can stand on its own. Lots of mellow sweetness at the end of this one. Courtesy of Dave in 2015.

Sampled at the St. Louis Brews club meeting, thanks for sharing! This brown bomber bottle was cellared well since 2013, and was still surprisingly hoppy and smooth, only somewhat oxidized and not necessarily in a bad way. Hazy orange amber, weak white foam, lots of lace. Strong malty backbone, biscuity with a little caramel sweetness. Focus squarely on the intense hops: pine resin, bitter orange peel, black currant, melon, mango. Good and fruity. Medium body and carbonation, pleasant aftertaste, well-crafted for sure.

I like the dry palate but that's about it. That's two Hermitage IPAs I've had and they're just too malty and earthy which is baffling coming from CA. Also there's no aroma. Dry hopping would help a ton.

Dark Brownish Amber, Gushing Out Of A Bottle and Ten You Are Able To Pour It, Settles For A Head That Is Slightly Above Average. It Does Not Last And Diminishes to A Thin Ring Leaving Light Spotty Lacing. Muted Strange Hop Aroma. Tastes A Lot Better. Sweet Malt, Grapefruit, Resin, Pine Hop. Lasting and Pleasant Bitter Hop Aftertaste. Medium Body, Oily. Hides High ABV Well. Enjoyed It. Nice. Recommended...

Aroma is intense with apricot and grapefruit. The galaxy hop has an interesting flavor profile: dry, slightly tangy, but features a lot of pine resin. Great IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
