33cl bottle straight from the brewery shop, drunk after 96 hours so not fully settled. Odd-smelling and odd-tasting, coming I guess from something like Mapucho hops – though that’s a guess. In these distant South American breweries it is the stronger stouts that seem to be best. The lighter ales are exposed to flaws in method and ingredients.

330cc bottle, gift fom "Pepa" Benavides directly from Punta Arenas. Pours a shiny gold color with a big and bubbly off-white head that shows medium retention and leaves a small lacing. Aroma is strange, soapy, perfumey with lavender notes. raw and kinda unfinished. Floral and semi-herbal hints detected under the intense soapiness. I think it’s not yet fully fermented. Taste is a little bit harsh, chemical and the overcarbonation doesn’t help. Soap, chlorine, lavender, Alka-seltzer, vitamin c pill notes. Nope, this one is definitely off. It would be a drainpour if I didn’t get it from so far away. Very harsh finish, almost painful. Really sad.

Another Chilean beer I got to enjoy several times during my trip through southern Chile. A good blonde as it’s not watery and has a simple yet sophisticated taste. Again, weak in the ABV like the Rubio, but hard to fault beyond that.

(330cc bottle) Pours a clear golden body with a medium white head. Aroma of grass, florals, nuts, toasted grain, lemon peel, and spruce. Flavor of florals, nuts, grass, and earthiness with a dry, bitter finish.
