3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 BlackHaddock (2365) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 11, 2012
Brown 500ml bottle ’Czech Premium Lager’ on the label. My bottle was one month out of date (best before 5th April 2008, drank 8th May 2008).
Poured into one of my Veltins stemmed glasses two and ahalf times.
Mid-range Lager/Pilsner appearance, meaning a golden yellow body, more dull than bright and with the normal white head. The head on each pour fell away very quickly to leave a thin scum on top of the well carbonated body.
This lager had an aroma, some hops, yeast and baking powder?
Dry and fairly refreshing, this had a lot more substance than a lot of lagers, not so watery as a few I could mention. A smooth feel for a lager.
I thought this a good example of a Czech Pilsner/Lager.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 OleR (4247) - Oslo, NORWAY - JAN 31, 2012
0.5L bottle bought @Pivoňka, Hradec Králové. Brilliant pilsner golden body. Dense, shiny white head. Crisp pale malts, grassy hops, and a faint acidic-sweet fruit tone on the nose. Taste is on the bitter side of bitter-sweet. Medium malt body, clean and grainy. Feels full and quite oily in the mouth. Mild bitterness linger in the finish. A rock solid Bohemian Pilsner.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 3fourths (6960) - Vilnius, LITHUANIA - DEC 18, 2011
draft. unfiltered. mild skunky must, armpit oil / bacteria and yeast-heavy buttered nose. prickly acid and rough malt with equally rough carb don’t present the beer well at all. tart weizen-like yeast presence is very neutralizing, and the fizzy and thin body combined with rough malt texture are unpleasant. lacks refinement and is brash even in small amounts.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 JorisPPattyn (7311) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - DEC 10, 2011
Deep-golden, clear beer with small white head. Dough, milkripe grains’ nose, even some chaff; ending on H˛S-like sulphur notes. Dry, quite hoppy, with a point of sulphur (especially retronasal), that is not offf-putting anymore. Dry malts and obviously good hops. Light body, undercarbonated. Pretty decent Czech Pilsner; pity about the overdose of sulphur in the nose. Many thanks to Honza!
