2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 esp0r (803) - NORWAY - JAN 8, 2012
Bottle enjoyed at home
Pale hazy, white head. Smells of malts, yeast esters and wood. Taste is light malted with good sweetness. Very summerish and refreshing. Some bitter finish and some tart fruits surprisingly arise after some sips
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 OleR (3660) - Oslo, NORWAY - NOV 4, 2011
0.5L bottle bought @Vinmonopolet, Vika. A milk-shaded pale straw colored pour, topped by a tall snowy white head. Yeast and dough up front, then a vague scent of mellow yellow fuits and banana. Taste is undistinct and sappy. Soft bready pale malts, tin-canned fruit-juice fruitiness. Medium full, juicy texture. Bland, fruity and yeast-accented malt finish. Drinkable, but utterly boring and downplayed.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Rune (5000) - Tromsø, NORWAY - OCT 10, 2011
500ml bottle bought at Vinmonopolet Vika. Light yellow body with a slight haze. Lasting white head. Grass and wheat to the nose. The taste profile is a mix of lemon, wheat, and hay added by notes of light spices. Dry ending. Foamy in the mouth. Refreshing and ok (hotel room, Oslo 27.09.2011).
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 larsga (4681) - Oslo, NORWAY - SEP 8, 2011
Small white head quickly shrinks with a hissing sound. Muddy
yellow body. Mealy orangey wheaty aroma with herbal notes.
Dry-sweet mealy herbal taste with wheaty orangey
notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dry oily papery
orangey aftertaste with herbal mealy notes. Nice, quite decent,
but a bit mealy and papery, and not as fresh as it could
be. (0.5l bottle, wine monopoly Vika, Oslo.)
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 Vignale (914) - Malmö, SWEDEN - AUG 29, 2011
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 liinis (1153) - Helsinki, FINLAND - FEB 13, 2010
Best before 10/2009 so...?
Huge medium lasting white foam, yellow hazy and visible yeast. Birch is a very refreshing ingredient in all its forms they have used it. Very fresh and clear.quite ok, but maybe the passed date has something to do with the taste as it is a bit strange...
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 ricke (476) - Malme, SWEDEN - NOV 12, 2009
Pale yellow, very hazy with lots of bubbles in the liquid. A medium sized frothy white airy head settles quickly and leaves small lacings.
The smell is of white bread, flour, lemon peel, clementine - quite a lot of semi-sharp fruit esters actually. Plenty of earthy yeast. Some floral notes and phenols.
Not much going on in the taste. A some faint fruity notes - lemon peel and banana. Plenty of yeast, white bread, wheat and some dough. Some floral notes, and perhaps this is where the birch becomes present. Gentle spices (cloves) in the middle. The finish is short and quite sharp with some esters and yeast, but at first, the aromas are almost completely overpowered by an overly active carbonation. Not really impressed by the taste. It’s too weak and lacks character.
Moderate body, too thin in my opinion. And as noted, quite a lot of carbonation with small and aggressive bubbles. Semi-dry texture.
I’m not really impressed by this one. It’s an ok witbier, but absolutely nothing more than ok. Overall, the flavors and aromas are too restrained, and the bland finish is a real letdown. But I guess it would be a great thirst quencher if you drink it really cold.

Flaska 10 grader

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 TBone (9430) - Pori, FINLAND - OCT 13, 2009
Bottled bryg #243 (Systembolaget, BB 10/2009).
Slightly hazy yellow color, mostly vanishiing white head. Witbier-like wheaty and white peppery, a bit fruity nose. Crisp carbonation. Citrus peel, banana, plasticky mouthfeel. Herbal and peppery touch. Ok summer drink, although not Earth-shaking wit.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 fiulijn (10421) - Como, ITALY - OCT 2, 2009
Courtesy of Oh My Head Muddy pale blond color. Lemony and dusty aroma, light plastic too. Medium body (at least for a Witbier), wheat flavor, dry, a bit spicy and herbal. The final is more bitter than the average Witbier. Not bad, but not very useful to me.
