3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 tfredvik (627) - Oslo, NORWAY - JAN 2, 2013
Clear, dark brown/reddish body with a frothy, quite short-lived, off-white head that reduces to a film. Fair lacing. Quite strong aroma: sweet, spicy and fruity. Also yeast, dried dark fruits and dusty hints. Moderate sweet taste that lasts into the moderate bitter and long-lasting finish. The flavours are very spicy! I get anise seeds in the aftertaste, but before the beer is swallowed I just get a strong mix of all sorts of spices and herbs. Cool! Also caramel and coffee and alcohol in the back. Very nice oily texture, very soft carbonation and close to full body, but the massive spice and herbs attack makes the mouthfeel a bit rough. Still a lovely brew!

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 JanLaursen (2145) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - DEC 8, 2012
bottle, 50 cl. Hazy orange brown with quite some yeast floating and slowly diminishing beige head. Strong star anise aromas combined with notes if caramel, yeast coriander and fruity hops. Taste is sweet malty, strong anise, spices, yeast and a fairly generous hoppy bitter finish, balancing things out. Smooth - a perfect match with traditional Danish x-mas fare like mustard glaced ham with kale.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Delirium (636) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - DEC 7, 2012
Bottle. pours dark amber, with a moderate, lasting white head. Aroma is strong malt, with some noticeable spice to it (coriander, orange peel, and anise, perhaps?), and a whiff of alcohol. Flavor is rich caramel malts, again with some significant spicing, though it blends quite well (perhaps better than in the aroma, actually). Smooth mouthfeel. I quite like this.
