COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Beautiful brown color with red shades. Rather simple, falling in the English Strong Ale category, where the malt and caramel just try to get a bit above the surface, there is also a subtle spicy touch. Drinkable but quite plain.

Dark amber color. Some aroma of malt and caramel, with very light broth. Round malty and caramel taste, with a lot of candi sugar and light malt fruitness. Enjoyable.

Draught at Lord Nelson. Clear red/brown - white head. A lot of berries, light alcohol, raisons, light hoppy. Not at all as hoppy and spicy (and good) as the 2005 version.

Lidt humle i eftersmagen.

Murky brown body, small beige head; Not to big a nose, fruity malty, nothing special; Huge carbonation that is quite sharp, a little bitter; Bitter warm finish, with some pine and some hop. Unbalanced and unclear.

UPDATED: NOV 22, 2010 Amber with a lasting and creamy off-white head. Aroma of malt, caramel and brown sugar with a strong spicy licorice note of anise. Sweet and full malt flavour with enough body to carry the rather dominating anise.

Bottle. What I wrote about looks, aroma and flavor for the 2004 version also goes for this. Still I think 2005 is slightly better because it feels smore smooth and not quite as agressive as the 2004 version.

A good beer though it tends to feel rather clayey. Also has a rather strong feel of alcohol that doesn’t do it any favours. Otherwise a powerful taste of anis in particular.
