COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Sweet aroma. Round in flavour with a sweet taste of refined sugar. Hints of caramel in finish and aftertaste. Not nearly as much anis as in the 2004.

The Christmas brew from this Roskilde micro. Brewed wth star anise and coriander.Powerful aroma masks the hight alocohol content, and the Belgian yeast kicks in and gives a splendid finish.

Draught. Muddy brown colour with a small baige head. Sweet caramel malty, oranges, spicy aroma and a sweet malty, light alcoholic dry, spicy, fruity taste. Medium body and a sweet light alcoholic finish.

UPDATED: FEB 25, 2010 On tap at Fynske Øldage, Odense, Denmark. Copper-colored hazy beer with a small, light tan head. American hops in aroma, citrus-fruits and some alcohol. The alcohol is not overpowering in neither aroma nor flavor. Belgo-flavors with grapefruit and sweet malt, caramel and hints of oranges. Sweet aftertaste with a long bitterness. Rating: 8-4-8-4-17-4.1. 051029

Bottle, at Esbjerg Beerfestival. A hazy, amber beer with a nice off-white head. Sweetish nose with alcohol and some spices. Sweet, citrusy and spiced flavor, malty sweet and with a nice bitterness. Warming and full-bodied, with a fine bitterness in the finish. Overall, a nice beer, a bit too warming, and I remember it to be much better. Maybe we have grown both of us. 091023

An unclear dark brown beer with an OK light brown head. The aroma contains notes of oranges, lemon, caramel, and alcohol, while the flavor is very sweet with strong notes of caramel and nuts, but also fruits - I pick up oranges. Nice with the extra power.

Pours unclear dark brown with a fine tan head. Lots of spices and yeast in the aroma. Tones of fruit and a warming note of alcohol. Strong velvety flavor of malt and heavy spices specially anise. Citrus and pineapple in there as well. Good bitter finish, almost biding. As said, soft mouthfeel. Highly drinkable despite the high ABV and spicyness. Very nice.

(On tap) Less star aniseed and a shipload of extra malt drives the alcohol way up in this new version of Herslevs Christmas offering. Unclear brown with an orangey glow and an off-white head. Sweetish, fruity aroma. Very potent body, sweetish vinous with distinct notes of oranges. Very marked and warming alcohol. Incredibly full-bodied but perhaps a tad too heavily alcoholic. 281005

Draft @ Brewpub København. Very spicy nose with notes of anise and mint. Hazy dark crimson body with a small white head. Light sweetness in the flavor with spicy notes, especially anise. Just a tad too boring IMO.

Bottle. Pours a beautiful red/brown with a dense, fluffy, brownish head. Sharp, sweet and fruity aroma, which gives way for licorice notes as it warms. Could be nice, but I find the licorice somewhat intrusive – it doesn’t really work like it should, which is a shame because I really liked the aroma before the licorice kicked in. Flavour is sweetish and fruity like the aroma. Licorice here as well, but it works better than in the aroma. Still, it could be better. Also, the sweetness gets a bit cloying after a while. But overall a decent brew, though. 09-11-05.

Bottle. Murky dark brown with small lasting head. Spices, honey, blue berries, sweet liqourice and yeast in a deliscious, complex blend. Full boided with a velvety mouthfeel. More please.
