3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Defreni (2045) - Husum, DENMARK - NOV 5, 2007
Fad. Udemærket julebryg, der godt kunne "spille" lidt mere med musklerne i betragtning af de 9 %. Dette gør den særdeles drikbar men heller ikke mere. Klassisk belgisk stil.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Gr0ve (2038) - Oslo, NORWAY - DEC 23, 2010
500 ml bottle. 2010 edition. Bottle says 8.0% abv. Dark brown and seemingly clear. Tall fine-laced off-white head that clings to the glass. Sourish spicy aroma. Hints of Belgian yeast. Pepper, licorice, coriander, cinnamon and anise seed flavours. Warming alcohol. Soft carbonation level that balances the alcohol and spices nicely. Velvety texture. Balanced and quite enjoyable.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 tarjei (1954) - Bryne, NORWAY - MAR 29, 2008

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 POLK (1884) - Hørning, DENMARK - DEC 16, 2011
100509: Slightly spicy scent (oddly enough, not anise). Sweet, heavy and strong spicy taste - slightly sharp taste both because alc. and the spices. It is important to say, that despite the scary name, it does not taste very much of anise. The flavor reminiscent of Belgian strong ale. Alcohol, spices and sweetness combine to make this a very good beer. But it would be better if it was a little less alcohol i think.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 mgumby10 (1856) - Jupiter, Florida, USA - JUN 15, 2007
Courtesy boboski. Pours a hazy, murky brown wit ha small light bubbly brown head. Really unique interesting smell, olive juice, spices, a little caramel, and dark malts. The taste is light on the carbonation, a little sweet, kind of tastes like a barleywine. Some caramel and light tartness to it. It still drinks pretty smooth with a little funk in the finish. Interesting, but pretty good.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 NosirIwont (1721) - Aalborg Vestby, DENMARK - NOV 8, 2005
Bottle. Pours a beautiful red/brown with a dense, fluffy, brownish head. Sharp, sweet and fruity aroma, which gives way for licorice notes as it warms. Could be nice, but I find the licorice somewhat intrusive – it doesn’t really work like it should, which is a shame because I really liked the aroma before the licorice kicked in. Flavour is sweetish and fruity like the aroma. Licorice here as well, but it works better than in the aroma. Still, it could be better. Also, the sweetness gets a bit cloying after a while. But overall a decent brew, though. 09-11-05.
