Bottled. A red beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of dusty hops, malt, and caramel, leading to a dry dusty and alcoholic finish. Thanks yespr for sharing.

Bottle. Pours a deep copper body with a small white head. Nose is oranges, wood, vanilla, hints of caramel and deep malts. Taste is red berries, caramel, oranges, deep malty tones and hints of vanilla, aniseed, licorice and faint traces of rum. Mellow carbonation and smooth mouthfeel, perhaps a bit less lively than desired. I don’t know exactly whether I prefer the original or not, but they’re both good Christmas beers in their own ways: the regular is more present and in-your-face, the BA is smoother and definitely more complex. Good stuff.

Bottle at ØlKonsortiet. Amber pour, small to no head. Aroma is very sherry-like, dark fruits, figs, fudge, oxidation, the yeast profile is very nice and warming, notes of oak and vanilla. Excellent aroma. Taste plays on the same strings as the aroma, but adds a slightly sour-ish oaky touch and a good deal of oxidation. Everything seems to play together very well, and this was perhaps the biggest surprise of the day.

Bottle, courtey of Enjoyit. A quite flat one, hazy, brown in color. Just a rim of off-white bubbles on top. Spices, caramel malts, some oak notes and a citrusy touch in the aroma. The barrel-ageing has removed much of the spice aromas and flavors from this one, leaving a beer that’s mellower. Smooth, full-bodied and slightly warming. Caramel, some dried fruits and a roasted touch as well. Not bad at all, but I think I prefer the original one. 110129

50cl, exclusive Danish brew anno 2009, with liquorice, thx to MadsNP!, complex brew, slightly sour and spicy, yet not too heavy, very balanced, hazy, nearly no head, very good X-Mas brew, but expensive
