Hertenheer was initially brewed at Hofbrouwerijke but due to the success, the beer is then brewed in larger quantities at the Scheldebrouwerij and now, according to the label, at Anders in Halen. Also the recipy has slightly changed.

Bottle at home, 330 ml. Into a tulip. ABV 6.5% Deep orange colour on the body, with a tall white head, a thick one. Fantastic retention, it wouldn’t collapse no matter how long I waited. Aroma of caramel, yeast. Nice and fruity, what one expects from a belgian ale, plus some funky notes. Taste is yeasty, some peaches, again some of the funkiness, very bitter and especially on the aftertaste. Medium thick body, carbonation is high. Nice dryness on the palate. Overall another surprise, with unexpected bitterness. Great!

Quite bitter and fruity beer, almost like a Belgian IPA. Nice and refreshing.

Bottle: Served in a Moreeke snifter glass: Medium sized creamy foamy head, which changes slowly, on top of a hazy yellow to lightly orange colored beer. Aromas of fruit, apples, apricot, malts, hops, cream, yeast, some hay and a light hint of wilder yeast. Flavours of bitters, herbs, yeast, some fruity tones: apricot, apples, malts and some malty bitters. Aftertaste is a mix of hay, malts, grains, bitters and some nutty floral tones. Low carbo, creamy light oily mouthfeel, medium bodied and a creamy texture. Absolutely a decent beer.
