3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 BlackHaddock (2441) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - JUN 7, 2013
30cl Bottle: BBD Mar 2014, poured into an Augustijn chalice at home on 7th Jun 2013.
Deep, dark ruby red in colour with an off-white head that thinned out very quickly: although it did leave some sticky lacing on the chalice as the beer level sank.
Sweet and malty from the start, the nose has a fruity, alcoholic maltiness with a yeast undertone.
The taste is also malty sweet: I know the Dutch seem to brew sweet Bocks and this is no exception. Mild coffee notes take away any thoughts of over-sweetness but a chocolate feel to the flavour brings it back again.
Luckily I like sweet beers: this is a sweet toothed beer fans heaven.

Bockbier fat folkpub i DenBosch Holland. Egentligen inte så spännande men trevlig omgivning höjer alltid betyget!

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Xstream (123) - NETHERLANDS - FEB 16, 2013
A: Dark brown beer. Hazy, mocha foam top.
S: Sour yeast, light bitter hops, caramel and a subtle coffee scent.
T: Same as the smell suggests, but better. Has more sweetness to it then you’d expect, leveling out the light bitter and medium sourness. Not too sweet. Still fresh and balanced.
M: Low carbonation, giving it a somewhat creamy medium bodied feel. Could be a tad fresher for a better balance.
O: Nice balanced bock beer, but lacks a bit of complexity to call it very interesting.

Flaske 0,3l. Gave fra Mieke. Tusen takk!

Bottle from Albert Heijn. Poured a clear dark brown with a reddish hue. The head was thin, tan and broken. The aroma is weak but does contain fruit and malt. The flavour is bitter with chocolate and liquorice. It’s a little less sweet than many boks, which makes it easier for a session and keeps the dentist happy!
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 McZythos (31) - Nancy, FRANCE - DEC 6, 2012
Dark coloured beer with an off-white head. Smells dark fruits, tastes is quite sweet and fruity (dark fruits) at the beginning and has hints of coffee at the end. It makes it quite interesting, and well balanced. No taste of alcohol. Between a Schwarz and a Strong Belgian Ale. Very good beer, really appreciated it.
