Bottled. Deep ruby red colour, small beige head. Aroma is toffee, licorice and some hints of alcohol. Flavour is alcohol, fruits, spices, licorice and some mild yeast. Wellbalanced, quite pleasant for being this strong.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours an almost black purple with a medium tannish head and a nose of overripe fruits. Taste is a bit plain for a beer like this, the initial taste is very sweet, caramel, ripe prunes and grapes and the finish is bitter, hoppy. This is a good beer, but it could have been a bit more complex

Extremely beautiful ceramic 1/2 liter bottle. Sadly I hardly had any foam when pouring. Smell herbs and nutty. Enjoyable but not overly impressive.

Bottle ceramic with cork 50cl: Poured a reddish brown color with white bubbles, not really a head at all. The aroma is very sweet caramel or candy malt. The taste is a roasted malt with a sweet fruit dry finish.

A bit disappointing for the depth and gravity of this brew. A nice brew--very mild for its strength--but lacking the unctuousness of the Kasteel Bruin or the cognac-like power of the Bush.

Bottle @ Lowlander, Covent Garden. Pours dark brown / little red. Aroma is caramel / sweet / yeasty. Taste has a little alcohol / dark fruits / raisins. Good mouthfeel with a sweet / dry finish.

Red/brown look with small head and notes of alcohol, port, dry fruit, high carbonation, complex, smooth and a challenge. Great!

30 cL bottle, thanks to Grovlam. Pours amber with a lacing light brown head. Herbal and berry fruity aroma, slight alcohol note. Sweet and alcohol flavour, slight herbal too. Ends slight malty, alcohol warming. Slight acidic to citric fruityness. Wins something for every sip but is still slightly too alcoholic for my liking.

UPDATED: NOV 14, 2009 Dark ruby brown with a small, but lasting off-white head. Dried fruits and port in a quite oxidized aroma. Dry and fruity flavour with some alcohol.

1993 bottle: More or less the same. Some oxidation, lots of desert wine notes, and a slightly tart fruity finish. Well done!
