4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle @ ChristianScheffel tasting. [thank you BeerBiker]
Now this was (surprisingly) nice! Pours is deep brown, rather muddy. Medium head that disappears quickly. Aroma is very complex and very ’Belgian’. Sugar, dried fruits (mostly raisins), some barn, rye bread. Nice creamy palate. Flavour is nice and sweet as well - very well balanced with som viniousness mixed in the roasted, chocolate and fruityness.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Paid 93 eurocents for a single in a supermarket, fair enough! Strong and heady nose reminiscent of stronger beers from the Leffe brand. Its mellow alcohol and fair clovey, bready, soft yeastiness all feel Belgian enough, not too far from some of the least interesting Unibroue actually. Gentle orange tea flavours. Smooth medium body. Yeast focus all throughout. A competent if undistinguished strong ale: floral, citrusy and exotic (apricot, pineapple) all the while warming its drinker who feels satisfied for as far as price vs. quality goes.

Bottle. Large creamy beige head that really lasted. Good display of lacework. Cloudy amber color. Aroma of bread, grain, hay, caramel, roasted malt, dried fruit and some brown sugar. Full bodied with an average carbonation and light alcoholic texture. Moderated sweet flavor with light bitter notes. Fruity sweet finish.

Ruby-red colour, almost no head. Lots of alcohol in the aroma, together with some fruits and caramel. Flavour is of alcohol, caramel, and dark fruits. Quite drinkable, despite the 10% ABV.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sweet, vanilla-fruity, cakey aroma with some bourbon notes. Good label and cap. Medium dark brown, fluffy head which didn’t pile up too tall. Generally a nice balance, but boozy and leaning towards alcohol bitterness. A few musky undertones. Medium-heavy body, and the finish floundered a bit giving an overbrewed and pasty impression over a syrupy aftertaste..

Tasted 2007-08-20. Bottle, 30cl. Pours clear brown with light brown head. Fruity aroma. Alcohol very present. The alcohol warms the entire body and gives bitterness. Tastes sweet and fruity and very malty.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
0.3l bottle. Very dark red color with beige non lasting head. Aroma is caramel and fruit. Taste starts sweet (malt and caramel) and then changes to pleasant bitter. Long sweet-bitter aftertaste. Very thick mouthful. Immediate warming sensation that starts in your stomach and spreads through whole body. Good strong ale.

Bottled, 300ml, past, at Falstaff cafe, Maastricht, Netherlands. Black with ruby hue, tan head. Big fruity nose and flavour initially with a punch of alcohol, then there is a boiled tea like flavour and a slight wet cardboard note. decent enough big beer.
