COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Dark, small head. Sweet with a strong taste of alcohol. There are some nice desireable romas, but all the alcohol sort of take away the interest.

<i<Bottled. Clear ruby, small creamy head. Raisiny madeira aroma. Sweet and sticky with roasty, chewy malt covered by some bubblegum esters and raspberry brandy. Towards the finish without bitterness it akll drowns in sweetness. More power than depth.

My wife bought me a Hertog Jan sample pack of 6 beers. I had never had them before this and I have to say the Grand Pretige was a suprising stand-out beer that really opened my eyes. It’s so easy to drink but FULL of great flavor. I lucked out because the sample pack contained 2. I suggest trying this.

Bottle... Deep, dark, clear copper lager with a small, frothy, off-white head. Decent retention. Herbal, malty aroma with an undertone of dark fruits, a little sassafras and a touch of mint. Full-bodied and a bit oily with tingly carbonation. Sweet, herbal, lightly tangy and warming. Thanks to bierkoning for shipping this bottle across the Atlantic!

Bottle @ home. Dark brown, beige head. Aroma of dark fruits, alcohol and brown sugar. Flavour is mainly brown sugar, some fruits and roasted malts. Very soft, but way too sweet for me.

Bottle@Beers of the World Live (NEC), 2008. Brown beer with a spiced aroma, and a spiced and dandelion and burdock flavour. Overall a nice bitterish, spiced and herbal tasting beer.

30 cl bottle, bought in Amstelveen. Dark brown color, nice beige head. Aroma is fruit and hops and roasted malt. Flavor is dried fruit, very sweet, roasted malt and hoppy bitterness. Almost too sweet, but not over the top.

ceramic bottle, best before jul 09. aroma : dark fruits, but a bit faint. lots of dark fruits and aged beer taste, not much btterness. i don’t like the style (love belgian whites) and it was too aged-beer / winey and too little taste.
