COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Warning! Early amateur rating! Dark beer. Rich toffee malt. Hint of chocolate. Smooth and sumptuos. Lingering malt finish. Very nice.

Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this bottle. The beer pours an amber color with a tan head. The aroma is very nice. I get a lot of toffee and cherries, as well as some alcohol. The beer smells pretty sweet and fairly boozy, but still very nice. The flavor is almost exactly the same. There is a great toffee malt backbone that is complimented with a lot of dark fruit. I also get some grass notes in the flavor which meld very well with the dark fruit and toffee malt. The alcohol is also very present in the flavor, but the beer is still drinkable. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. A very nice Belgian Strong Ale. Would love to try this one again.

ceramic bottle with cork, courtesy of Bierkoning! Deep brown colour, large beige head. Aroma of port wine and sherry. Full-bodied, solid malty base, flavours of port wine, heavy red wine and sweet sherry. Slightly hoppy in the finish, warming port wine flavours dominate. Unusual but pleasant.

Quite nice head. Liquid is brown red. My nose tells this is strong beer, there is distinguish sweetness and maltyness of most of the strong Belgian style beers, as well something reminding a berry that I cannot remember which it could be. Taste is align with smell, but perhaps a bit surprisingly sour. After taste is malty, all sorts of hays and nuts crawl out as aroma. Overall this could nearly best I could buy from nearest to home super market.

Pours a dark burgundy-amber into a chalice, very modest amount of head. Aroma of tin, fruits, alcohol, earthiness. Taste is a rich and bitter barley, slight coffee notes, and alcohol is reasonably well hidden for such a strong brew. Pretty good, but a rather too dry finish for my preference.
