4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Ungstrup (26476) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - AUG 12, 2003
The aroma is slightly sweet with notes of plums and other fruits. The color is a deep red and it has an OK but fast disappearing head. The flavor is a soft rounded sweet, fruit rich, complex one. Ending on a fruit rich dryness after a middle with a good sweetness. A fantastic beer.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 yespr (26474) - Copenhagen O, DENMARK - OCT 4, 2007
30 cL bottle, thanks to Grovlam. Pours amber with a lacing light brown head. Herbal and berry fruity aroma, slight alcohol note. Sweet and alcohol flavour, slight herbal too. Ends slight malty, alcohol warming. Slight acidic to citric fruityness. Wins something for every sip but is still slightly too alcoholic for my liking.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Papsoe (25129) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - AUG 3, 2005
(Bottle 30 cl) Dark, slightly reddish brown and hazy with a small head. Malty and fruity flavours with notes of figs and dates. Sweetish yes, but not cloying. Very heavy and potent - to be enjoyed in small quantities! Comes close to some of the best Belgian abbey ales. The brewery calls this a Barley Wine - gerstewijn. 250802

<i<Bottled. Clear ruby, small creamy head. Raisiny madeira aroma. Sweet and sticky with roasty, chewy malt covered by some bubblegum esters and raspberry brandy. Towards the finish without bitterness it akll drowns in sweetness. More power than depth.

Bottle. Vinous, peppery, sweet/malty aroma. Dark chestnut brown colour. Small, unstable, light brown head. Very vinous flavour. Also quite sweet. The mouthfeel is quite thin for its 10%. Peppery, but slightly disappointing aftertaste.

Odense Tasting: Dark amber with creamy brown head & good lacings. Sweet aroma of dark fruits & sugar. Reminds me of la trappe quadrupel. Roasted malts. Dark complex flavour - sweet dried fruits. Alchohol warmth. Smooth, sticky & oily. Great!
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 fiulijn (12360) - Malmö, DENMARK - SEP 12, 2002
UPDATED: DEC 2, 2012 2012-11-08, bottle at Locus Publicus, Rotterdam, 7-5-7-3-15=37 Dark mahogany color, nice red reflex, generous creamy head. Mild aroma of malt caramel and smoke. Good malty flavor, caramel, medium mellow sweetness, light bitterness. A bit nutty. Not complex but enjoyable.
2002-09-12, bottle conditioned, 8-5-8-4-16=41 Dark brown, wonderful creamy head, generous. Nice malt aroma, deep; roasted malt, chocolate, some liquorice, alcohol. Really strong flavour, mouthfilling, maybe too much alcohol; a lot of malt, some sweetness, a reasonable taste of roasted barley, some liquorice. Not complex, just strong character. Reasonable bitterness, the minimum for this strength and malt. Not my top beer, but maybe my Dutch favourite.
