Bottle, thank you very much jbrus. Warm rusty red with little tan head. Smells sweet with caramel, flan, and custard aromas. Low carbonation, good quaffable body. Interesting flavor profile with slightly chalky finish. Sweetness does not become cloying. Is nuanced. Quote Oakes "A Dutch take on an old ale" suits it perfectly-mature, solid, with strong Dutch character!

Pours reddish brown with a low head. Aroma is dark fruits and alcohol. Flavor is malts, dark fruits and alcohol. Warm and soft. Better than expected.

Sweetish barley wine. Not too strong an alcohol taste despite the 10% abv. No particular character. Try to add some hops (just dissolved one pellet of
Hallertau Mittelfrueh) or mix it with Jever or another hoppy beer - then it
is really drinkable.

Eine Schaumkrone bildet sich leider kaum. Denn Alkoholgehalt von 10% schmeckt man gut aber er ist nicht störend sondern passt gut. Der Geschmack ist herb-alkoholisch, etwas süß. Der Nachgeschmack könnte etwas kräftiger sein sonst gefällt mir dieser Barley Wine gut. Dies ist sicherlich ein Bier für einen besonderen Anlass und zum genießen auch ist es meiner Meinung nach passender es wie Wein zu trinken

Cloudy gold pour with a white head. Funky barnyard aroma. Taste is grassy sweet with some barnyard flavor.

Flavourful and dynamic. Slightly flat compared to Belgians but still a very worthy experience.

On tap at some hotel bar in Holland. Roasted, caramel, esters and fruit aromas.Medium body, low carbonation. POurs dark brown, with thin tan head, non persistant, some lacework. Taste is malty, sweet caramel and alcoholic.Not well balanced, alcohol dominates all the senses. Palate saturating.
Tasted also in bottle, beeing more balanced with some aging.

500 ml C&C bottle. Nice dark brown pour with beige head. Aroma of dark fruits, quite malty, lots of brown sugar, belgian yeast is fairly faint. Taste is sweet, more brown sugar, light vanilla notes. Palate is quite full bodied with medium carbonation. Coats the mouth and warms like a belgian strong should. Could smell a little more belgian.

Bottle shared at Rootz, The Hague. Clear dark amber pour with a small off white head. Aroma of dark fruit, malt and unfortunately too noticeable alcohol. Flavour is sweet malt, dark fruit, caramel and again, too noticeable alcohol going into the finish. Low carbonation and medium bodied. It’s much better aged a few years than fresh, the alcohol spoils it.

Pours golden color with small head. Aroma of ripe fruits, caramel and mild hops. Flavor of caramel, malts, sugar candy and yeast.

Dark brown beer, with slightly colored fast fading foam head. Unleashes a pleasant beer smell. Sweet but also good bitter taste, good for a beer with this high alcohol percentage, beer for easy drinking.
