UPDATED: SEP 16, 2014 Red-brown with a white head that dissipates quickly. Smell and taste is like forest fruits combined with yeast and a hint of caramel, and aftertaste has some bitter and sweet tones. An easely drinkable beer for it?s kind.

One of two beers that made up the "Dilemma of Hertog Jan" and the one that won the cleverly marketed battle. Yellowish white, sticky head, warm deep copper colour, clear. Complex malt aroma, toasted bread, hazelnuts, caramel, banana, apple, liquorice, flowery hops, leather. Fruity onset with a strange kind of saltiness, like ’drop’, nutty and caramelly malt base, bit of roasted bitterness in the finish, even a bit smoky, dry finish. Though an interesting brew, I have the impression they tried to blend different styles together, and did not quite find the right balance.

0.33L bottle. Clear amber with a small, light tan head. Sweet malt aromas: cereal, butterscotch, mild anice. Lightly sweet at first, quickly transitioning to a long, dry, herby hop character. Flavors are somewhat non-descript, just sort of sweet than dry bitter. Medium body with a creamy mouthfeel and mild carbonation. Overall, not much to report on this beer. Decent mouthfeel and nice amber color, but fairly muted aroma and flavor profile.
