3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
33 cL bottle at home. Best before January 2013. Pours hazy brown with a medium off-white head. Aroma has caramel, quite some dark fruits, raisins, malts and yeast. Taste is quite sweet with caramel, dark fruits, some yeast and a soft to medium bitter finish. Medium body and soft to medium carbo. Quite nice.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle: This beer was brought to me by.....my wife, as a welcome to the Netherlands gift. It looks like dangerous brandy in the glass. Apple juice looking head. Nose of sugar coated malts. Body has an initial second of sweetness that touches upon booziness and the disapears entirely. Second half is thinned down and drier. Thine abrupt finish.

Amber color with a beige head. Light roasted malt, caramel and light fruity nose. Light sweet and roasted flavor with a well balanced bitterness. Unusual mild and easy drinkable strong ale.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: SEP 16, 2014 Red-brown with a white head that dissipates quickly. Smell and taste is like forest fruits combined with yeast and a hint of caramel, and aftertaste has some bitter and sweet tones. An easely drinkable beer for it?s kind.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
One of two beers that made up the "Dilemma of Hertog Jan" and the one that won the cleverly marketed battle. Yellowish white, sticky head, warm deep copper colour, clear. Complex malt aroma, toasted bread, hazelnuts, caramel, banana, apple, liquorice, flowery hops, leather. Fruity onset with a strange kind of saltiness, like ’drop’, nutty and caramelly malt base, bit of roasted bitterness in the finish, even a bit smoky, dry finish. Though an interesting brew, I have the impression they tried to blend different styles together, and did not quite find the right balance.
