The first whif was nice, raisiny and port aroma, but then it settles into a less interresting sherrylike note. Pale red browm, head is quickly gone, low carbonation. Sweet malty base, alcoholic sherry notes on top, some nuts and marzipan. A bit too too much booze. Body is rather weak, oily mouthfeel, very slight almond aftertaste.

Bought a bottle at the supermarket. The aroma is soft and malty and has sweet tones of toffee and dark forest fruits. Has a copper color and a cream colored head, which doesn’t stay very long, and is low carbonated. Taste is a bit alcoholic and has tones of caramel and apricots. Taste is sweet and has a light bitter aftertaste. Afterall, a bit boring beer, which is just a little better than the pilsner.

33cl bottle @ home. Copper colored beer. Just a average beer. Not good/ not bad.

Deep dark copper with a think, light, fizzy, disappearing white head. Smells of malt, caramel, nut, toasted malt, and dark fruit - plum. Medium oily body with soft carbonation. Tastes of caramel, malt, toasted malt, and a bit of roasted malt. There is a faint metallic bit in the taste and smell.

Well rounded copper red colored strong ale. Alcohol isn’t too noticeable, beer’s name is indeed properly chosen.

Pours an amber beer, clear liquid with a white minimal head. It smelled hoppy. Herbs. Light bitter, light body, thin and sticky with an average carbo.

I can imagine this isn’t a well received beer looking at the ratings. It’s a bit of an in between-er. Too easy and simple to call it a special beer while all the flavors are suggesting it. It’s not like a regular pilsener. But if you just want a simple special beer, this is just lovely. Not too many layers or complexity. Just some brown sugar / caramel mixed with spices like clove. Fresh, not too thick and easy with a nice linger. It actually reminds me of a more mellow version of "Gouden Carolus" beer.

Another Belgian Strong Ale from Hertog Jan and this is one of the best. Deep, malty, with high alcohol content and a medium body.

Bottle shared with McTapps. Classic belgian strong with a tender sweetnes and aroma of caramel and alcohol. Not a bad one but others brewery do it way better.
