3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Pawola22 (3180) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 10, 2013
On tap at Beer Temple in Amsterdam. Pours a clear straw colored body with a finger-width, foamy and frothy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is somewhat grassy and fruity with a light pils malt sweetness. Flavor is similar. Lightly sweetened pils malts with a light grassy fruitiness throughout. Finishes clean and dry with a light bitterness. Medium length aftertaste following a light body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a decent pils. Nothing special, but well balanced and flavorful enough.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Mr_Vogel (55) - NETHERLANDS - MAY 7, 2013
Nice pilsner. Equally likable as Brand, yet Hertog Jan focusses a bit more on the malts where Brand focusses more on the hops. This gives some identity to this well-balanced pilsner. In my opinion, Hertog Jan is one of the two best pilsners from the Netherlands (the other being Brand). The Limburgians certainly beat the Hollanders when it comes to brewing.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 worldbeertaste (1133) - Lancashire, ENGLAND - APR 13, 2013
Pale clear gold with a frothy, lacy, lasting off-white head. Smells of malt, hay, grass and fruity peach. Light thin body with soft carbonation. Tastes sweet and fruity with lots of clean malt. Don’t taste the adjuncts here. It finishes with some light hops. So easy and simple to drink that after 10 I just didn’t care about the taste anymore.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 bonkiedeaap (46) - Leerdam, NETHERLANDS - APR 10, 2013
This is one of my favourite pilsners in Holland. It’s the beer I drink mostly. It has a golden color and is not highly carbonated, and has a small white head. It’s sweet and has a light bitter aftertaste. Conclusion: one of the best pilsners Holland has to offer.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 R2k2 (122) - NETHERLANDS - APR 3, 2013
Darker lager than any other. The bitter hop-like aroma is very present than any other lager. The taste is a little bitter, smooth, sweet and somewhat full. The aftertaste is not bitter, but doesn’t last long.
