Hertog Jan is a brand for beer lovers with an appreciation of natural, tasteful beer. This is a fruity aromatic bottom-fermented pils characterised by a golden color, full body and pleasantly bitter aftertaste. It should be served at 4 to 6C (39 to 43F).

Hertog Jan pils, the beer of choice of south east Netherlands and many others. a clear golden delight with a white foam head. If you are looking in the supermarket for some beers to enjoy with some friends, this is the one for you. I have never met a someone who was dissapointed with being served one of these.

Prima pils... Beste lager onder de grotere merken uit Nederland. Vind het ook nog eens een mooi etiket met een mooi verhaal. Hulde aan de Hertog!

33cl can. Pale golden colour, with a white head with poor retention. Smells sweet, like a cheap pilsner, which it is. The taste is a bit better than the aroma suggests. Bitter pilsner hops, sweet caramel. A nice carbonation and light body. Pretty refreshing, as far as pilsners go.

A nice pilsener. As with most southern Dtuch pilsener, they are not too sweet. Nice bitter tones and a sweet aftertaste.

Regular golden medium rocky white lasting head with good lacings. Lightly toasted malts up front with notes of grass, straw and barnyard otes, faintly hopped. Soft and rather smooth medium body. Juicy light toasty malt centre with a light bitterness and a medium finish. Drinkable.

My longtime favorite pilsener from the local supermarkets. Firm blonde body with rich and smooth barley, and a bitter hop finishing. Backlog from 2014/03/16.

Drank about half of a 330 ml. can on the train. BBF 07/2016. Nose is hugely oily cardboard, very sweet sugar & corn,… Taste is sweet corn, lightly vegetable, big sugar, cardboard, oily,… Very oily body. Macro pale lager fare,… Not too enjoyable but nothing really bad either as far as macro pale lager go, this is quite decent.

Een nogal weinige smaak, flets zou ik zeggen. Kan genuttigd worden bij een warme maaltijd.
