Blonde/yellow color, nice white head. A bit watery taste, consisting of bitterness and carbonation, basically. One of the better pilseners though.

The back label teaches us, that this beer is a Pilsener. Sorry guys, but I donít agree. This is a very good and pleasent Lager. Sure, itís brewed with Saaz hops, but itís too descent to be called a true PilsenerÖ On the other hand, this beer has much more character than other Dutch lagers. The full maltyness in combination with this descent hop taste make this beer easy to drink without giving the beer lover the idea that itís just colored water. Accessable without dividing, I would say.
Pleasant and rich taste. This beer is not afraid to show a bit more character than most other Lagers (I wouldnít speak of a pure PilsenerÖ).

On tap from a PerfectDraft machine. Clear golden colour with a nice white head. Malts, cereals and light caramel in the aroma. Average carbonation and light body. Taste is light with some bitterness towards the finish. Overall, a nice refreshing beer.

Cans grabbed in a hurry in an Amsterdam Supermarket. Stella is the nearest reference point, but maltier and with more body.

0.33L bottle. Clear pale with a thin white head. Aromas of bready malt, slight bubblegum, sulfur, minerals. Flavor is mild sweet with some nuttiness and cereal grain, but then quicky to herby hops that grow, developing into a mild, dry hop linger. Light body with a thin mouthfeel and active carbonation. Overall, drinkable, but not noteworthy. Standard continental lager.

UPDATED: DEC 18, 2014 An apple juice coloured liquid comes from the bottle. Itís definitely on its own between the other dutch pilseners taste wise. This is one you can drink all night, without any problems

Średniej klasy pilsner niczym nie zaskakujący. Plus za treściwość i głęboki lekko ciemny kolor.

Of all the pilseners commonly on offer in Dutch bars, itís hard to go wrong with Hertog Jan. Not a special beer by any stretch of the imagination, but thatís probably not what Iím looking for in this category.
