smaken: matig gemout, licht bitter, zoetje, hoppig
aardig maar niet bijzonder

#305 Der HJ Primator ist schön goldig mit feinporigem Schaum, der sich jedoch etwas zu schnell verflüchtigt. Das Aroma ist weinig-fruchtig und auch der Hopfen ist im Hintergrund vernehmbar. Der Körper ist fest und trocken. Für 6% Alk. ist es ziemlich leicht im Antrunk. Geschmacklich kommt erst eine malzig-würzige Süße auf, die durch den Hopfen aber gekonnt abgepuffert wird. Eine leichte Hefenote ist auch vorhanden. Dieses "Extra Pilsener" ist für mich zwar kein Pils, aber lecker allemal! Test vom 17.12.2009, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 11,12,11,11,10,11 - 11,10

UPDATED: AUG 11, 2012 Prima pils die het vooral van de volle zachte smaak moet hebben, beetje bloemen en klein bittertje. Dorstlesser is het, wel weinig kraag. #2 Aroma zuurstokken zoet en graan.

It smells a bit gummy. The taste is very sweet, a bit citrus, watery. In the aftertaste a bit bitter-alcoholic. In my opinion a bit to sweet. 8/8/8/7/9/8

Jan 2008: 30cl Brown bottle, the first of three Hertog Jan beers I intend reviewing today, my Dutch Beer Afternoon. Poured into a Corsendonk tulip glass. Old gold with a good white head, it looks like a tough lager. The bottle claims it to be an ’Extra Pilsner’. It is very clear and does appear a clean, tidy lager/pils. The head soon goes, just like most lagers. No aroma apart from the normal yeasty, beery smell pilsners give off, it gets my regular lager 3 for a score. It tastes like a lager beer with extra alcohol thrown in, there is not much more to say on the matter. There is some body to the beer and it does hang about in the mouth, but it just doesn’t float my boat. Nothing wrong with this beer, but there is something not right, it may be too much alcohol, or it may be the hops used, I can’t put my finger on it.

Golden yellow with white foam head. Bitter taste with some sweet candy present. Nice beer (Velp 201111)

Pours clear golden color with medium head. Aroma of grass, mild hoppy fruits, butter and yeast. Flavor of yeast, grain, mild butter and some caramel and toffee notes.

Interesting Pilsener, it’s bitterness gives the beer an neresting depth and it is a very characteristc beer.

33Cl bottle. Light yellow colour, small white head. Aroma’s of fruity hops. Taste: first malt, then more hop-bitterness, aftertaste: fruity bitterness. Medium dry finish. Not bad beer, but still a refined pilsener

Darker golden body with a small disappearing white head. No lacing. Aroma of hay and grass. Taste is light malt with a medium hop bite. Carbonated slightly creamy mouthfeel. Not bad.
