3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle 33 cl. Pours a clear golden with a medium and fading white head and a complex smell of hop, malt and spices. Taste is hoppy and spicey too. Really interesting for a pilsener

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: SEP 22, 2007 Bottle. Average beige and light creamy like head that mostly lasted. Nice thick film was left on the glass. Cloudy amber color. Aroma of toffee / caramel, light roasted notes, some fruity feel. Underlying malty notes. Light to medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Flavor was again malty sweet with a hint of bitter notes. Sweet caramel like finish.

3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A little darker than a regular Pilsener this slightly stronger version has a strong full taste. It’s a bit low on the hops compared to the malt but offers enough flavour overall to make it interesting. There’s an aftertaste which is both metallic and a little grassy.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
The head is moderate and the color is golden. The aroma is hoppy and the flavour also has a lot of hops. I also get a few malty notes right before the finish, that has a nice bitterness.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
(Bottled) Deep golden / light amber color with a smallish, white head and some lace. Very mild aroma of pale malts, some alcohol and very faint hops. Sweet-malty, quite alcoholic flavor with some fruitiness. No hops to speak of (some flowery ones can be digged out), considering it’s supposed to be a pilsener. Medium-bodied, sweet-alcoholic palate with quite low carbonation. A drinkable European strong lager, but hardly a pilsener.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Had this one with a plate of ribs at the brewery. Worked fine with such a greasy and heavy food. Otherwise not too rememberable for a strong lager. Has the identifiable sweet character of a Hertog Jan product.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nice full-bodied pilsener. Nothing wrong with the head and color, good appearance too with a ’strong’ name. Fine taste, better than the normal pilsener.

2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle at home. Pale pilsener, bit sweet, strong. Okay. Not my favorite of the Hertogs.
