patrick767 (1403), fort wayne, Indiana, USA Jun 9, 2008 tap at the brewpub - Really? This beer is a dunkel? It pours too light brown for the style and has a mild roast malt aroma. The nut malt flavor complemented by a little bit of yeast character is also too light for the style. It tastes alright, but really misses the mark of a Dunkel.
awaisanen (1143), Irvine, California, USA Feb 20, 2008 On tap at the brewpub. Mild aroma of toasted pecans and chewy caramels. Finally, a Korean dunkel example that doesn’t pile on the roasty and chocolatey flavors to excess. Only problem is, this seems to have backed off these qualities a bit too much. Medium-light bodied, softly carbonated mouthfeel. Flavors of nutty malt and bread crusts. The finish gets a bit too dry, bringing out some husky astringency. A generous amount of bitter euro hops round out the dry finish; detracts a bit from the malt character, but helps the drinkability.
