Bottle fom Open All Hours in Keswick. Pours deep mahogany, pretty close to black with a frothy cream head. Nice sweet coffee aroma. The taste has light spice and dark fruit before a pleasant lingering coffee finish. Quite thin bodied, but pretty tasty.

Bottled, 500ml from Tebay Services, Orton, Cumbria. Dark brown with cream head. There is a sweetish fruity note initially from this, not really Stout like, thinnish on the palate but then a darkly roasted, bitter chocolate note emerges delivering a toasty then liquorice character. Drinks nice and smoothly. Pretty decent eventually.

Cask at GBBF 2012. Poured a very dark brown, with a thin beige head. Aroma of weak coffee, brown sugar and earth. Some chocolate in the flavour, with dark malt and rye bread. Watery mouth feel, for a stout. Finish was very weak, with some sweetened coffee and condensed milk.

Cask Eaten by Monsters Carlisle. Rich chocolatey aroma with faint background smoke. Smooth on the palate, with some balancing bitterness. Best beer this brewery does by some distance

Bottle, from the Local Carlise, on the train from Inverness to Hereford 21/10/13. Mid black with a good sized frothy light tan head. Nose is dark fruits, soapy notes, toffee, liqourice. Taste comprises light roast, dark toffee, hint of minerals, earthy, light soapy notes. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, fruity tang in the closure. Average stout - the old bar of soap was seemingly dunked in it a little too vociferously !

Bottle from an off licence in Carlisle. 4.0% abv. Very dark brown in colour, with a small tan colour head. Mild chocolate and coffee aromas. Relatively light bodied for a stout, reflective of it’s strength, and with average carbonation. Enjoyable.
