COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A very drinkable, high gravity, crisp and spicy rye IPA, hopped generously throughout the brew process and then dry-hopped with over a pound per barrel of Sterling and Chinook hops. Earthy and spicy notes from both the hops and the rye malt, complimented by the floral and piney aromatics.

Bottle. Big pour. Earthen orange, big head. Gritty, strong orange-laden, dirty hop character. Big, spicy drink. Save for a night cap. (#5995, 6/27/2015)

Pours a pale Orange with a nice white head. Head retention is good. AROMA: floral/herbal hops, caramel, spice, peppercorns, malt, citrus, pineapple, pine bitterness and slight tangerines. FLAVOR: Spice, hop bitterness, peppercorns, herbal tones, malt, rye, citrus, slight alcohol, pine bitterness, caramel and slight ginger. AFTER TASTE: peppercorns, hop bitterness, slight alcohol warmth and spice with a crisp dry finish. I have been putting off trying anything from Mike Hess but I’m glad I finally got to it. Awesome aroma and taste with a nice spice/peppercorn warmth to it.

On tap at the brewery. It pours a clear golden color with a white head. The aroma is fruity with some citrus and light tropical fruit. The flavor is the same. Caramel, florals and citrus. Not great, but clean and decently drinkable. A little too sweet and simple.

Keg at the North Park taproom, SD, 15/11/14. Clear golden with a well appointed off white head. Nose is light pine, citric peel, straw, bitter orange, toasted malt. Taste comprises light grapefruit, mineral notes, orange pith. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, hop bitterness in the close. So so for style, lacks depth and hops.
