Brewery draft. Dark brown pour with a foamy brown head. Nice aroma of caramel malt, coffee and chocolate. Silly mouthfeel. Starts sweet then a little rye spice. Finishes with some dry, bitter espresso. ABV is completely hidden. Very nice.

A little too sweet for my liking. Slightly watery as well. Overall not a bad imp. Stout, but doesn't compete with the giants. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Two at the brewery - San Diego. Pours black-brown with a dense, creamy mocha brown head. The aroma holds charred and lightly tangy wood, a bit of dark chocolate, some rich coffee. Medium sweet flavor with lightly ashy roast, scorched earth bitterness, wood, coffee, bittersweet baking cocoa. Full bodied with fine carbonation and a chewy texture. Warming finish with lots of burnt malts and wood, tar, coffee grounds, bittersweet baking cocoa. Pretty big and bold though does have some grace.

Draft at the stone brewery. Deep black cot with that light brown sand color I like. Tastes boozy with a malty taste . Decent and very flavorful ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap. Black pour with a frothy blanket of tan foam. Aroma is rye, chocolate, grain, roast, and hop bitterness with pine. Taste is chocolate, fudge, and roast with noticeable darker fruit and sweeter malt with hop bitterness. Clean, lightly coating mouthfeel. All the basic components of the modern imperial stout in a clean, quaffable format. Really good.

On tap at Hess North Park. Thick black, chocolate and a nice spice character on the nose, with a hint of roast. Thick on the palate. Roast chocolate and espresso notes are balanced by a nice spice character. Very enjoyable.

Outstanding stout, especially for hop heads who like the crispness of a good imperial stout. This one takes it another step with the rye, creating a most refreshing version of the immaculate stout!! Go nitro if you can.
