(Bottle 50 cl) Comes in a lovely swing top bottle with a "painted" label. Fully golden, slightly sweetish beer with a lovely, full head with good retention. Very smooth and easy to drink with a good, malty body without much bitterness in the finish. Bought at the brewery the day they released their first "Cuvée de Keizer" - great show! 061099

(25cl bottle) Clear, pale golden, effervescent hue with a big and persistent foamy white head. Discreet aroma of slightly sweet and doughy malt with a touch of cardboard. Light-bitter flavour with a tinge of acidity, light bodied, smooth mouthfeel. Mildly malty, slightly chalky and grainy taste with a slightly sourish and faint bitter finish, accompanied by very nasty metallic notes (04.III.09).

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Absurdly huge head, white-yellow, very lacy; gold-grain coloured beer, clear. Faint flowery nose. Grainy taste, taste of non-sweet coloured malts, giving it more an ale-character. Faint hops wafting over. Slightly burning taste from the malt, quite dry mouthfeel. Short bitter aftertaste. Tasting this beer raises more questions than it answers. First - is this top- or bottom-fermenting? Wouldn't be the first Belgian "pilsner" to be brewed with ale-yeasts. Second, and certainly it if would be genuine bottom-fermenting - then WHO brews this? 't Anker? Bottom-fermenting??
