Nice typical Belgian . I would call this strong blond a triple. It is not boozy but the 10% is part of the flavor. The smell is quite alcoholic. Texture and carbonation is pleasant. The flavor is less sweet than I expected with lots of yeast malts and a good amount of bitter hops. Easy to drink.

4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
A beautiful cloudy amber, froth clears pretty quickly, sticky sweet deep autumnal flavours, woody, earthy, with a bitter back taste, one to drink under a large oak tree on a warm September day!

Aroma is fairly pale but there is some nice dark fruit aromas here. Faint hints of Belgian sugar candy and yeast. Taste is a pleasant sweet malt body with very nice fruity sweetness. Finishes smoothly for a 10% beer. Appearance is a cloudy orange/gold with a poorly retained head.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Classic abbey-style beer in existence since 1964 but clearly not an ’abt’ if this term has to cover dark, sweet, heavy Belgian ales: this is in fact a tripel, with a hazy, orange blonde colour and moussy head; yeasty and sweet malts, fruity, soft with smooth and delicate mouthfeel, mildly hoppy with warming alcohol in the finish.
