Bottle. Golden yellow, small white head. Sweet yeasty aroma, honey notes, and toasty malt. Sweet malt quickly gives way to a dry toasty alcohol. Pleasantly enjoyable but lacks complexity. Medium palate. Nice.

Cloudy amber. Good head. Mandarin orange juice and spruce. Celery. Flavor is a bit sharp. Is this hoppy? This is a spicy beer, but the sharpness doesn’t quite hit the spot.

Saarlander (1686) - Saarlouis, GERMANY - JAN 11, 2006
Poured with a huge head, well carbonated. Alcohol bite on the first sip, but it is quite fruity and spicy as well. I really think the alcohol dominates too much, but still decent!

This was described on the menu as a tripel, though I followed the name in thinking ABT. Clear yellow-ish with dense white carbonation. Alcohol is apparent but it is leaping with spices (clove, black pepper) and fruit (light citrus) and a touch of metal. Not very adventurous palate. (on tap at Brick Store, Decatur)

One of my favorite quads. Poured a dark gold color, big rocky off-white head. Lotsa spicy fruit in the nose...a yeastiness lurks behind that maltiness. The flavor is more malts with candy sugar, yeastys, melons, etc. The alcohol pops up loudly also..whew. Finishes with a nice hop bite if not a tad harsh. I will get this one again.

UPDATED: JAN 3, 2006 Gold in color with a white head. Light citrus aroma with a nice smooth taste that hints of fruits. A good caramel finish.

Faint scent of yeast in the aroma and a light banana. Appears coper colord with haze developing, and head is a thin white coating. Heavily spiced with pepper, clove, and other spices sparked from the yeast used.

Bottle. The beer settles nicely in the glass. Beautiful amber colour. First sip did not yet reveal the full tast. The beer got better while drinking it. In the end I was really impressed.

Pour very slowly, thick pillowy white head that stays and leaves a good lace. Cloudy amber color. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Sweet malty nose. Starts sweet, smooth, no alcohol, finish is very mellow. It would be better to have a 500ml bottle of this. Pricey, $4.89 for a 330ml bottle from Tulley’s Beer & Wine Wells, Me.

(Bottle) Pours a cloudy orange-brown body with a large off-white head. Aroma of caramel and fruit. Similar flavor with a creamy texture and soft carbonation.
