JoeinUccle (658), Brussels, Belgium Oct 22, 2007 Bottle @ Beer Mania. Labeled as "Tripel Abt," which ought to make style-nerds scratch their heads. Just goes to show that tripel and abt are not really cohesive styles. But I digress. This is a hazy, golden beer with a lasting white head. Sweet and malty nose with caramel and white raisins. It’s a sweet beer with a thick mouthfeel, and I couldn’t restrain the image of drinking cotton candy. Tasty but cloying. Taste some darker fruits despite lighter malts. Very light bitternes with some alcohol showing through. I was in the mood at first, but in the end it was too sweet to enjoy the whole way through. Would be a fine dessert to split with someone.
bb (2069), Martinez, California, USA Aug 16, 2008 Bottle. Amber beer with a nice whitsh head. Malty, toffee aroma with some yeast and a touch of spice. Richer malt flavor with some caramel, light plum/fig fruitiness and nice complementing yeast/spice. Fuller bodied. Lingering rich caramel malt with nice yeast and a bit of fruitiness and spice. Nice balance. DuffMan (1915), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Aug 15, 2008 Dirty brownish orange, moderate almond coloured head with brief retention and a little lacing. Sweet demerara sugar aroma, a little spicy. Sweet and spicy up front with a touch of cooked apples/pears, a peppery hop character in the finish along with well-integrated warming alcohol. Quite nice actually. Borresteijn (456), Amstelveen, Netherlands Aug 14, 2008 Bottle at Gollem 2. Amber colour, dense white head. Aroma of fruits, alcohol sweetness, malts. Flavour is sweet fruits, malts, caramel, alcohol bitterness. Some spices. Very nice. Mouthfeel is soft and creamy. emotv (191), Izmir, Turkey Aug 3, 2008 Clody blonde colour with a small head. Nice scent and acidy taste fist, malty and sweety taste. Very nice beer. I love these kind of beers. TrefwoordPunk (363), Leiden, Netherlands Jul 23, 2008 Bottle 33 cl. Pors a brownish golden with a small white head and a sweet aroma of malts and ripe fruits. The taste is a full-bodied heavy sweetness, but the taste isn’t as complex as most other beers in this style. A nice beer, but there are far better beers in this style.
