Bottle: pours dark amber with a beige short lasting white head with nice lacing. Aroma of caramel, dark malt and weak notes of dried fruit (but rather one dimentional). Flavour of sweet caramel, malt and raisins. Full bodied. Slightly bitter finish with some sweetness and alcohol.

Bottle 330ml from the local taphouse. Brown, with a frothy head. Very tasty and robust dubbel. Aromas of caramel, toffee, and butterscotch. Taste is sweet, with light bitterness, and long length. Palate is syrupy, and full bodied.

Bouteille de 33cl. Couleur cola, mousse moyenne de tenue assez faible. Admirables arômes torréfiés, très caramélisés, une pointe de réglisse. Longueur moyenne, carbonnation moyenne. Trouvée à Roby - Menin.

It poured a hazy amber liquid with a dirty white head. Fruity and caremelly smell with yeast and dried fruit. The taste is dominated by metal, but also some caramel and dried fruits in the background. The metal seems to be a problem in all the Kapittel Watou beers.

This smooth and flavorful Belgium Double pours dark brown in color and has a thick and long lasting frothy head. Has a sweet, fruity aroma with a hlight a sweet malty flavor that lingers on your palate.

Kapittel ... Dubbel.... ça rime, ça rame, comme tartine et boterham. Une dubbel à 7,5 abv, ma fois c’est une présentation soft. La mienne a 8 mois en plus que la date limite, c’est sans doute mieux. Couleur brun foncé à rousse en transparence. Arômes de prunes, pruneaux, caramel, crème brûlée et crème de noisettes. Bien. Volume doux et soyeux. Première bouche dans le ton des arômes en prunes bien mûres, avec une pointe de noix, noisettes et amandes, du clou de girofle aussi Second nez très agréable d’un bon brassin de brune. Deuxième bouche sympa avec des nuances de fruits mûrs. Troisième bouche un peu sur la canne à sucre. Le problème de cette bière est sa levure très maigre. Sans quoi, elle pourrait bénéficier d’une cotation bien meilleure. Malgré tout, le temps a fait son oeuvre, et je donne une meilleure cote ici que ma première cotation personnelle. La longueur est belle, mais la finale un peu trop sucrée. Une bière honnête donc, qui domine dans l’appellation avec la triple.

Bottle at home. Clear amber pour, solid off-white head. Aroma of spices, candy sugar, honey and caramel. Flavor is very sweet, almost cloying. Soem spices in the finish. Too sweet for me.

In bottle at the Ely Winter Beer Festival, 2012. Pours a brown colour with a thick beige head. Aroma of chocolate, candy sugar, caramel, yeast and alcohol. Similar flavours with lingering caramel and chocolate. Moderate carbonation, light CO2 prickle and a chewy mouth-feel. Nice.
