330 ml bottle into chalice, best by 5/2013. Pours slightly hazy reddish brown color with a nice 2-3 finger billowing light khaki head with fantastic retention that reduces to a thick cap that lasts forever. Some nice soapy lacing on the glass; with a good amount of carbonation streaming up. Aromas of raisin, plum, cherry, caramel, molasses, herbal, candi sugar, biscuit, earth, and yeast spices. Some nice aromas with good balance and complexity. Taste of plum, raisin, molasses, caramel, biscuit, herbal, candi sugar, yeast spices, and a bit of a metallic flavor; but it isn’t too bad. Lingering notes of dark fruit, herbal, molasses, biscuit, and yeast spices on the finish for a bit. Good flavor balance and complexity. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a fairly creamy and very smooth mouthfeel. Very easy to drink. Alcohol is hidden well with only a slight warming after the finish. Overall this is a very enjoyable Belgian dark ale. I would not mind having it again sometime.

Pours ruby red color with small head. Aroma of toffee, caramel, malts and ripe fruits. Flavour of caramel, toffee, malts, sugar candy and ripe fruits.

Bottle, ~4 years old. Pours woody, mahogany brown, old caramelized nose, bit wooden and dusty. Still good, but rather one dimensional, a bit sweet and dull.

Amber-brown collor with heavy creamy collar that disappears quickly, Musty smell. Watery taste of something differnent; hop?

Bottle. Dark amber/brown with medium tan head. Aroma is malt, yeast, fruit and caramel. Flavour is malt, yeast, little metallic, little dried fruits, caramel, medium sweet and a littler toffee.

aged 10 years in cellar at les douceurs belges, quebec, qc. pours hazy medium dark brown-red tint with a nice beige head, decent retention and lacing. lots of dry caramel malts, grassiness, fairly present acidity, very yeasty, spicy. light to medium body - could have been more malted. nice resinous and grassy finish. lively.

Pours ruby red with an off white head. Aroma is light malt and yeast. Flavor is a little caramel malt, floral and yeasty notes.

Currently drinking as I am typing. First off with the Pater is the typical caramelled malt smell you would expect from a Dubbel along with a dark smell but not overpowering. The beer looks nice, a deep chocolate, chestnut brown with a suitable head of a beige colour. The taste is rather odd, unlike alot of Dubbels this brew is a lower alcohol content which comes as a surprise upon tasting. Expecting a heavier toffee approach you are instead greeted with a gentle bitter fusty but light maltiness almost tastes like the smell of an old bookcase, with a slight hop note in the aftertaste. Good feel in the mouth, maybe a bit thin for a Dubbel. Interesting all the same, this beer is different for what you expect in this style. Definitely not bad though, worth a try!

330ml bottle. Medium brown, slightly dull, beige head. Earthy, robust aromas, reminiscent of cork taint, malt, yeast, caramel, candied sugar. Medium sweet, medium body, medium bitterness, balanced CO2. The taste is a collision of harsh bitterness, sweetness, cork taint (or whatever, I know there’s a crown capsule on), yeast and earth.
