Almost opaque dark brown beer, good pale tan head. Palate is smooth, airy and semi dry. Mild fine carbonation. Smooth dark malts with good dark chocolate character. Touches of coffee and cream. Light semi dry finish. Coffee linger. Not bad.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours dark brown with brown head. Nose is dominated by delicious aromas of coffee beans, bitter chocolate, leather, ash. Palate is smooth, tastes roasted malts and coffee, raisin, some warming booziness which is a mixture of whisky and strong wine, cocoa, raisins. Not as full as would expect from 10% but delicious slow sipper with lots of nice aromas and flavours.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Musta väri, kahvinen semihuterahko vaahto. Tuoksu ensialkuun hyvin vahva, pahvia, kahvia, ehkä sitä taatelia? Suutuntuma ultimaattisen pehmeän samettinen, makean siirappinen hyvällä tavalla, tahmeahko, alkoholia ensialkuun ja myös jälkimakuun kevyttä poltetta. Jälkimaku kahvicrema, makea, vaahtoisa, samettinen. Äärimmäisen hyvä olut.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
33ml bottle from Kris Wines, London. Love the fake Starbucks logo on the bottle. Intense coffee, quite bitter, scorched toffee, caramel, booze, tobacco, vanilla ice cream, romaine lettuce, dates in the flavour. Dark fruit quad-like aftertaste (if ABT 12 was bitter and full of coffee). Spicy and warming. Possibly dried fruit and quad like-aspect comes from the Calvados barrel. Could be a bit meatier in the body, but I’m enjoying it.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
33 cL bottle at home. Pours pitch black with a medium tan head. Sweet aroma with some licorice, coffee, roast and vanilla. Taste is quite sweet with a decent amount of coffee, some roast, licorice, alcohol and a medium bitter finish. Over medium body and medium carbo. Nice, but a bit too sweet for my liking.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottled from Biernavigatie. Opaque black, small brown head. Powerful roasted malty nose, licorice, coffee, little bit out of balance. Complex flavor, roasted malts, coffee (espresso), oak, raisins, fruity edge, alcohol. Everlasting finish. A nice brew, although on the edge in terms of balance.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
330ml bottle from Appellation Wines, thanks to AshtonMcCobb. Pours black-brown with a thin tan head. Aromas of coffee, chocolate, tar, some boozy notes and leather. Taste is coffee, coffee, coffee. Bit thin on the finish for a stout of this strength.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Appellation Wines.
Appearance - opaque black with a generous fawn head.
Nose - coffee bean and earthiness.
Taste - tonnes of coffee, toffee and dried fruit on the finish.
Palate - full bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly good finish.
Overall - better than most coffee stouts I’d say.

2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle. What raises suspicion is the fact that it’s filled almost to the brim. Confirmation is when there’s no sound as the cap is cracked and no head no matter how strong a pour or how much you swirl the beer. Dark wooden brown, black liquid, no head. Aroma is soy sauce, liquorice, some raisin, light oak, light brandy. Taste is strong coffee, liquorice, roast, raisin, light oak. Chocolate-coffee, light vanilla. Strong coffee in the aftertaste. Semi-full, no carbonation. Some unpleasantness in addition to being completely flat. Not so nice.
