330ml bottle courtesy of Benzai. Thanks. Pours a dark brown color with a small khaki colored head that slowly recedes to a fine ring. The aroma is light with mixed dark fruits and some cocoa. The taste is first and foremost very roasty-- I get well roasted grains, burnt toast, dark chocolates, plums, wood and some bitter chestnuts. The palate is full and smooth with soft carbonation. Finishes long, dry and roasty. Overall: I really did not get any whiskey flavors, but thats OK, it all worked. An excellent beer to start off 2015. Thanks Rene.

Bottle from ABC Beers, Den Haag. Poured a deep mahogany with a thin broken light tan head. The aroma is sweet roasted malt, peat, boozy alcohol. The flavour is strong bitter with a rich roasted, fruit, light creamy, alcoholic palate and a long bitter finish. The alcohol is well controlled here and although the effects of the barrel aging are there up front, its not right in your face.

Bottle 330ml (PBF IX)
Dark brown color, small brown head. Strong peaty whisky aroma. Medium-bodied. Peaty, sweet licorice, toastyness in the flavor. Interesting but basic beer is strong, not much JD here probably.

330 ml bottle @ PBF IX. Pours a dark brown, almost black colour with a small head. Aroma of roastiness, smoked wood, some tar and wet earth. Flavour of roasted malts, grassy notes, smoked wood, peat, salty licorice and heavy earthiness. Musty and dry finish with some licorice. Heavy and over-the-top peated and smoked beer. Jack Daniels is definitely not dominating here. Not my kind of a beer. Id rather have a nice Islay whiskey than this.

Bottled@PBF IX. More or less black colour with a brown head. Aroma is whisky barrel, some vanilla and some mild toasted notes. Flavour is very similar in a nice balance. Whisky is not overdoing here. Kind of smoky stuff as basics.

330ml bottle from European Local Swap, thanks MrHangover! @ PBF IX

Pours pitch black with a smooth head. Aroma of wood, ash, leather, roasty malts, whisky and oaky notes. Taste is leathery, woody and sweetish with notes of whisky, smoke, oak and roasted malts. Finish is leathery and woody with some roastiness and whisky notes.
