Draught (Uiltje Bar, Haarlem) - Jet black in colour. Liquorice, roasted malt and some slightly smoky notes in the aroma. Liquorice, cocoa, vanilla and coffee can all be detected in the smooth and dangerously drinkable taste.

Bottle from European Local Beer Swap (thanks Maakun!). Fairly mild smell, malty with smoke, wood, vanilla. Similar taste with a roasted flavour and burned toast. Not alot of smoke.

Chapeau!

On tap @ Uiltje bar. 20cl sample. The aroma has chocolate, some roast, vanilla. Black coloured beer with a thin, beige head. The taste is light-moderate bitter, has some caramel sweetness, vanilla, chocolate, roast. Nice and smooth. Good istout.

Bottle. Pours a jet black beer with a big brown head on top that leaves terrific lacing on the glass. Aroma has loads of licorice, chocolate, deep roasted malts and a touch of booze. Flavor is bittersweet with loads of molasses in there, a boozy finish and a great finish. Alcohol mellows out a bit in the end eventually, but is not disturbing at all. Very good stuff.

Bottle 33cl. Black with a brown head. Unfortunate the nose is dominant of something metallic, then hints of dried fruit and chocolate. Very rich and smooth flavour. Waauw this is an intense beer. Sligt hints of english licorice, chocolate and some nice bitterhops. Long finish. Such a pitty that even after 5min, this metallic nkse still is present, as it gastes superb.

Bottle. Pours black in color with a slightly tan head. Mocha espresso, dark chocolate cookies and bit of burnt grainy vibes in aroma. Might be some spices there as well. Taste has got some sweetness and chocolate in it, and on the other side there’s some bitterness and burnt notes too. Vanilla mixed with tar and roasted notes in the end.

Almost opaque dark brown beer, tidy tan head. Palate is airy and dry with modest fine carbonation. Rich and semi dry dark malts. Little earthy coffee and a trace of dark chocolate. Some mild alcohol warmth. Airy dry finish. Decent enough but needs to breath a bit to get the best from it.
