3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from Getränke Kistner in Forchheim. The beer has got a hazy dirty light amber colour with steady head and medium body. Aroma of hops and straw. Taste of mild hops, straw, grains, bread, hay and mild fruits. Easy drinkable and refreshing with hints of nuts and dust.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Beneath a layer of slippery bitterscotch, there was a full, sweetish cereal-malt taste and moderate dusty bitterness. Some honest grain smells there with the butter. I believe there was a tasty, characterful beer down there beneath the diacetyl, but I couldn’t get past it this time.

From the bottles, pours an amber color with a cream colored head. The smell is toasted malt, nutty, dull caramel, hint of fruit. The taste is slightly metallic initially then quickly fading, licorice root, toasted malt, dull caramel ending a bit herbal and dry. The body is Light+ and round with fine carbonation.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draught half-liter at Franconian Beer Festival Nuremberg, May 2013: Pristine rust with golden hues. Frothy tiny-bubbled white head. Candyish and breadcrust-rich aromas with underlying licorice, hay, unsweetened chocolate and a faint raw-cereal character. Sturdy plum succulence fuses with a luscious chocolate-covered breadcrust maltiness. Perceptible scratch of minerals and a potent wood-root-spice hoppiness finds its way through the brawny malt-laden core. Thick molasses twang boosts the sweetness as does a splash of candied plum. Malt exhibits some delectable hay dust and melanoidin flavors, though looming raisin and medicinal alcohol tarnish some of the refinement. Deep and resonant toastiness yields a burnt pecan dimension which teeters on smoky. Quite intriguing. Closes sugary and slightly limp, with insistent medicine edges and unspent cereals. Bit of a mixed bag for me...couldn’t get into it as much as Mikey. Shows plenty of promise at times with its rich melanoidins, but the malt seems somewhat unrefined and raw at the same time. A few tweaks and I reckon it’d be superb.

Bottle with Paul. Pours a light amber body with soapy off white lacing. Notes of bread, spice, sweet malt, fruits, grain and crackers. Somewhat dry palate. Pretty weak overall.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Recht ordentlich mit ein klein wenig Nuss, etwas Hopfen, einigen Momenten an Gras und Getreide. Recht simpel, dabei süffig. Vollkommen ok.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle @ home. Pours dark copper with a small big-bubbled off white head. Malty and sweet aroma with toffee, plums, grains, spices and hints of licorice, soy and nuts. Smooth (and very low carbonated) mouth feel. Flavor is malty, moderately sweet with toffee, bread, red berries, hints of plums and spices and a balancing metallic bitterness. Overall it has a surprisingly watery taste , as compared to what you expect after smelling it, the aroma is quite intense in comparison. There’s some edgy higher alcohols disturbing in the aroma and in the aftertaste.

Dark copper colour, with white foam. Dry heath in the aroma with malt. Malt, toffee, with sweet metallic bitterness in the aftertaste. Watery and high in carbon.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
My Bottom Line:
Toasted malts and herbal hops merge within this dryish unfiltered lager.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A creamy head of foam laces around the misty dark amber.
-The herbal hop bitterness gets longer and longer with every gulp.
-Toasted malts morph into nut skins after a while.
-This is nicely süffig.
