3fourths (8799) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JUN 13, 2013
First rating Dec 2011 on draft: clear amber with an off-white head. red apple skin, unripe cherry and caramel malt nose. highly hoppy and zingy with abundant hop acid, though the texture is bit rough, it’s still nicely toasty, minerallic and rustic. (3.4)

Second rating May 2013: Penning zeißler vollbier naturtrub. Very toasty and rich malt-driven aroma: bready, crusty, nutty, etc. pleasantly restrained pithy orange hop aroma. clean fermentation. creamy carbonation, low bitterness, medium sweet and rich in the mouth. juicy hop finish. layers if fresh cut red apples and some dried berries. lingering hop bitterness and succulent malt with creamy carbonation. quite easy to drink. (3.9/5.0)

Amber/copper (bernstein) body with a thin white head. Aroma is ripe fruits, some wood. Slighlty metallic mouthfeel. A bit dry finish.

Jonb5 (458) - Greater London, ENGLAND - JUN 26, 2012
Half litre bottle, Amber colour, clear, medium tanned head, oily on top. Smelled slightly off fruits that gave way to grassy malts. Fairly bitter roasted malty taste, not too much else going on. Light to medium carbonation, medium body and mouthfull, long roasted malty finish. Overall Vollbier doesn’t tell you much, this was a bit like a Dunkel, not the most interesting but drinkable.

Sorry for the german rating, but this is a lousy rating from my "newbie" time (2007-2009), and it’s not worth of being translated. I just added it for the statistics, and to complete my backlog!

Bottle. Sweet citric nose with chewy caramel and abstract fruit. Body orange with a soapy beige head. Sweet taste never fully tries out, chewy caramel reappears with nice toast, fruit is subdued but nicely matches the tangy main. Aftertaste is pushing wood, full body isn’t very crisp. A little too ’hard’, but interesting.

mile (3572) - Helsinki, FINLAND - DEC 17, 2011
Bottle. Light amber, hazy, small to average and fully diminishing head. Light to moderate malty – lightly grainy and sweetish aroma, some caramel and light grassy hoppyness. Moderate, malty - lightly grainy and sweetish flavor, some caramel and light bread, light roasted malt with light grassy hoppyness. Finish is average, malty - lightly grainy and lightly sweetish, some caramel and light bread with light roasted malt, some grassy hoppyness. Lightly sweetish kellerbier with bit too much caramel.

Braudog (6066) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - DEC 10, 2011
Draft at Hütt’n. Deep reddish amber. Delivers a rich malt charater, but with a nice tart hoppy finish. Almost festbier-like with an appley finish, but hop forward in an unusual way for Germany. (#4376, 11/30/2011)
