Schmeckt! Beschde mit, wie man sie gerne nennt, de beschde. Jedoch ist lediglich massey geiler als fendt.

TAR (2436) - Lafayette, Colorado, USA - MAY 20, 2014
Draught half-liter at Franconian Beer Festival Nuremberg, May 2013: Pristine rust with golden hues. Frothy tiny-bubbled white head. Candyish and breadcrust-rich aromas with underlying licorice, hay, unsweetened chocolate and a faint raw-cereal character. Sturdy plum succulence fuses with a luscious chocolate-covered breadcrust maltiness. Perceptible scratch of minerals and a potent wood-root-spice hoppiness finds its way through the brawny malt-laden core. Thick molasses twang boosts the sweetness as does a splash of candied plum. Malt exhibits some delectable hay dust and melanoidin flavors, though looming raisin and medicinal alcohol tarnish some of the refinement. Deep and resonant toastiness yields a burnt pecan dimension which teeters on smoky. Quite intriguing. Closes sugary and slightly limp, with insistent medicine edges and unspent cereals. Bit of a mixed bag for me...couldn’t get into it as much as Mikey. Shows plenty of promise at times with its rich melanoidins, but the malt seems somewhat unrefined and raw at the same time. A few tweaks and I reckon it’d be superb.

Bottle looks very simple but really good. Beer in the glass zippy, darker than exspected, nice head. Starts intense malty, but also a bit moldy and unbalanced. Finish more balanced, still fine spicy. Okay.

Amber coloured with a moderate, off-white head. Malty aroma with a touch of toffee. More malt flavour with a decent dry finish. Good.

Rating from 5.8.2007: Sehr schönes rot-blondes Bier. Im Geruch leicht süßlich-hopfig. Im Antrunk dominiert für einen kurzen Moment Kohlensäure, bevor sich ein starker hopfig-malziger Geschmack ausbreitet, der auch noch lange erhalten bleibt. Sehr schönes Bier! --> 12.65

UPDATED: DEC 28, 2013 Bottle from Hopfen & Malz, Berlin. - Orangebraun. Antrunk malzsüß mit Noten von bitterer Frucht (Aprikose) und Bittermandel. Sehr kräftige, aber dumpfe, fast unangenehme Bittere ohne eigentliche Hopfenaromen im Abgang. - Etwas zu holzschnittartig, um zu überzeugen.

(tap) Copper-coloured, clear, off-white head. Aroma is slightly cellary with mineral notes, loads of dark-bready malts, some hay, licorice-wood. Taste is nicely bitter with very little sweetness. Soft to medium carbonation. Robust and down-to-earth. This one has never tasted better to me than today.

First rating Dec 2011 on draft: clear amber with an off-white head. red apple skin, unripe cherry and caramel malt nose. highly hoppy and zingy with abundant hop acid, though the texture is bit rough, it’s still nicely toasty, minerallic and rustic. (3.4)

Second rating May 2013: Penning zeißler vollbier naturtrub. Very toasty and rich malt-driven aroma: bready, crusty, nutty, etc. pleasantly restrained pithy orange hop aroma. clean fermentation. creamy carbonation, low bitterness, medium sweet and rich in the mouth. juicy hop finish. layers if fresh cut red apples and some dried berries. lingering hop bitterness and succulent malt with creamy carbonation. quite easy to drink. (3.9/5.0)
