2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Asheville, NC - Bruisin’ Ales - 12 oz bottle. Pours a sparkling medium golden with a quickly fading white head, rather still, not much bubble action. Aroma has an olive oil accent, some lemon accents. Flavor has a bit of a grainy essence, light nuttiness, some mineral water. Overall, somewhat bland. Mouthfeel is rather dry. Not a highlight of my North Carolina haul.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Sampled at the brewpub. It poured a clear golden color with a white head. The aroma was of grainy malts and some grassy hops The taste was grainy, with toasted malts, grass and herbal hops. Decent.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours a nice amber with a thin eggshell head. Aroma is crisp, malty and a bit fruity, typical but inviting. Flavor is malty with an underpinning of pear and a hint of apple. Texture is average but OK. This could be a good gateway beer to wean people off industrial swill.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Had on tap at Lookout Brewing in Black Mountain. Just meh. Color and taste of straw, predominantly. Pretty high carbonation. Sort of insipid flavor wise- bready, doughy, corn, sweet. Was cold enough that one could call it refreshing- might work in a pinch on a hot summer afternoon.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
@ Whole Foods Market / Asheville NC --- Clear dirty light amber, thin head cover, narrow bands of lace. Taste reminds me of the big guys - malt and adjuncts that don’t extend flavor past the palate, fizz for balance, only this one at least provides a light bitter as the finish fades. Overall, weak.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a clear golden yellow on tap with minimal ring of white head. Aroma is bready grain and lager esters, taste follows. Clean and easy, slightly under carbonated, but a nice lager.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 8/20
Hallertau and pilsner malt? This is what happens when you quick ferment lager, you get rough gravel and fizzy husks and seltzer water and such. Faint lemon and grain first order aroma and flavor. Sweet, syrupy, medium bitterness. Simple syrup and cereals. Brash and messy beer. Can’t stomach it.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle--pours a golden color with no head. Kind of a corn and dough aroma, though you have to work hard to find it. Bread and corn taste with a slight sweet finish. Bruisin’ Ales

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Draft at taproom. Pours golden with a white head. Not much on the nose. Clean and crisp on the tongue. Finishes clean. Plain and easy sipper which is all it aspires to be.
