Black, with some thick brown foam. Smells like coffee and a hint of vanilla, plus some roasty aromas. Taste is also coffee and vanilla, with some dark chocolate as well. Leans a bit to the sweeter side as opposed to being a coffee bomb. I enjoyed it.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Growler. Smells of dark chocolate and quality dark roast espresso with cream and prickly green herb. Pours opaque ebony with a lasting disc of spongy foam. Tastes of strong coffee, cream and a long finish of a not-too-sweet Oreo cookie. Medium-plus body has a smooth medium carbonation and a nice acidic tingle that dries the sweetish brew very well.

Bottle. So dark it’s almost black. Very small head but a lot of creamy lace. Aroma is coffee. Taste is coffee if fact it’s too much coffee. It needs a tad more balance.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Appearance: Served up a dark brown, near black body with a modestly-sized, light beige head.
Smell: Well-roasted coffee and equally well-roasted malt in the nose with background accents of smooth chocolate, dark fruits and vanilla cream.
Taste: Roasted malts adjoined to a strong, forward coffee flavor with a quieting boldness. Lactose rounded tastes of dark chocolate, some dark fruitiness. Moderate sweetness. Malty, coffee-toned finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel.
Overall: Mmm-MM! That’s delicious coffee milk stout.

Location: Draft at the brewery, 1/2/15
Aroma: It has a big coffee aroma, with some roasted and chocolate notes
Appearance: A dark brown colored beer with a decent head and some coating lace
Flavor: It has a roasty flavor, with some light balancing sweetness comes through later
Palate: It has a creamy, smooth mouthfeel, is medium-full bodied, with a dry finish
I enjoyed this. It has a pretty nice coffee-forward flavor and aroma, which works rather well. The mouthfeel is quite nice too. Well done with this one. This ended up being my favorite of the Hi Wire beers.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Black pour from draft at Hi-wire taproom. Off white head. Tastes more like a coffee stout than a milk but either way it is yumski. Creamy and Expresso dominant. Smells like coffee grounds.

UPDATED: NOV 7, 2014 On tap at source on birthday. Coffee, coffee, coffee. Honestly probably would have scored better if it were labeled a porter. Mouthfeel and body a bit thin for a stout. Pours somewhat thin with a quickly diminishing tan head. Flavor solid with coffee prevalent- chocolate, earth, caramel, raisin playing second fiddle. Cold extraction is key to this one- coffee is obvious (overly so, really- but I love coffee) without being bitter. Tasty.
On tap at the vault. Better when not next to reserve russian imperial in flight.
Solid and tasty. Nice stout.
