Inspired by our head brewerís cafe con leche-fueled travels in Key West, this is a milk stout with some kick. Local coffee from Dynamite Roasting Co. is cold-extracted and added post fermentation to this sweet, creamy stout.

Bottle. Almost opaque deep brown body. Frothy tan head, diminishing. Aroma of coffee bean, roasted malt, vanilla, metal. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/creamy texture, lively carbonation. Coffee acidity and bitterness in the taste, but also a hint of cream. Enjoyable.

12 oz bottle into a Belgian snifter A very dark brown colored body with a short head that soon reduces to a ring but does leave some coating lace Aroma: strong coffee notes, with some roasted grain and a hint of chocolate. Flavor: medium-dark roasted coffee with some dark bread. Quality coffee flavors. Lightly sweet up front with a mildly bitter aftertaste. Feel: smooth; medium+ body; light carbonation; semi-dry finish Overall: an enjoyable, coffee-forward ale with low bitterness.

Pours a thick black with a creamy dark cappuccino head. Aroma is strong black coffee, roasty, creamy, nutty, espresso, bitter, chocolate. Taste is creamy on the tongue with chocolate and coffee playing together with a chocolate milk similarity. Also has roasted nuts and a slight bitter. Excellent beer that goes sweet over bitter while still being very drinkable.

Black, with some thick brown foam. Smells like coffee and a hint of vanilla, plus some roasty aromas. Taste is also coffee and vanilla, with some dark chocolate as well. Leans a bit to the sweeter side as opposed to being a coffee bomb. I enjoyed it.

Growler. Smells of dark chocolate and quality dark roast espresso with cream and prickly green herb. Pours opaque ebony with a lasting disc of spongy foam. Tastes of strong coffee, cream and a long finish of a not-too-sweet Oreo cookie. Medium-plus body has a smooth medium carbonation and a nice acidic tingle that dries the sweetish brew very well.

Bottle. So dark itís almost black. Very small head but a lot of creamy lace. Aroma is coffee. Taste is coffee if fact itís too much coffee. It needs a tad more balance.

Appearance: Served up a dark brown, near black body with a modestly-sized, light beige head.

Smell: Well-roasted coffee and equally well-roasted malt in the nose with background accents of smooth chocolate, dark fruits and vanilla cream.

Taste: Roasted malts adjoined to a strong, forward coffee flavor with a quieting boldness. Lactose rounded tastes of dark chocolate, some dark fruitiness. Moderate sweetness. Malty, coffee-toned finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel.

Overall: Mmm-MM! Thatís delicious coffee milk stout.

Location: Draft at the brewery, 1/2/15

Aroma: It has a big coffee aroma, with some roasted and chocolate notes
Appearance: A dark brown colored beer with a decent head and some coating lace
Flavor: It has a roasty flavor, with some light balancing sweetness comes through later
Palate: It has a creamy, smooth mouthfeel, is medium-full bodied, with a dry finish
Overall Impression: I enjoyed this. It has a pretty nice coffee-forward flavor and aroma, which works rather well. The mouthfeel is quite nice too. Well done with this one. This ended up being my favorite of the Hi Wire beers.
