berkshire_john (1057), Bracknell, Berkshire, England Sep 1, 2008 Cask at the Hobgoblin, Reading. Reddish chestnut with a thin cream head; rich, almost meaty aroma; rather thin and oily in the mouth; combination of nutty and purple fruit flavours with a touch of vanilla;gentl bitter finish with some burnt caramel; warming and slightly spicy. Complex and interesting, would be even better with more body. FatPhil (2102), Espoo, Finland Mar 20, 2008 Cask (Kuikka, Helsinki)
Deep mahogany, small head. Fruity sweet and treacly cake aroma. Sweet and malty in the mouth. A burnt finish, which is a bit woody and between smoky and ashy. Very pleasant well balanced mellow full-bodied brew. Utterly sessionable, and I’d enjoy every drop. Fin (2188), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Dec 21, 2007 Cask at Far From the Madding Crowd, Oxford, 20-12-07 Mid brown colour, reasonable dark malty fruity bitter but lacking in individuality, I sort of forgot about this half way through. Jukkabro (2368), Tampere, Finland Oct 17, 2007 (Cask) Deep dark coppery colored, medium sized beige head. Toffee and caramel in mildly hopped and crispy aroma, cask-lemon tone also here. Thin to medium bodied. Flavor is even roasted with this same chocolaty-toffee tone, bitterness comes in aftertaste with lemon. Good cask. Dark ruby - nut brown color, good creamy beige head. Nutty, flowery hoppy aroma. Medium-bodied, flowery hoppy flavor - some caramellish notes. Basic but solid sweetish session beer.
