COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION This ale was conceived and brewed to recognise Peter Higgs’ career. Peter Higgs is a British theoretical physicist and a professor emeritus at the University of Edinburgh. He is best known for his 1960s proposal of a spontaneous symmetry breaking scheme that gives mass to fundamental particles. In electroweak theory in particular it gives mass to the W and Z bosons. This so-called Higgs mechanism, proposed by several physicists at about the same time, predicts the existence of a new particle, the Higgs boson.
