Commercial Description:
Beer of the Gods is an unusual blend of styles from Old Germany. We’ve taken the pale Pilsner malt used for Cologne’s famed Kölsch style and loads of spicy noble hops used in the best Altbier from nearby Dusseldorf. And we’ve topped it off with a liberal dose of extra aroma hops during a lengthy lagering stage. The result? An American beer that blends the best of two old world classics: a beer as drinkable as the very best Kölsch that satisfies like a supreme Altbier. Think of it as a German-style Farmhouse Ale. Beer of the Gods is, of course, unpasteurized and unfiltered. Alcohol content is 4.9%.

Sampled on Glouglou’s roof at out summer BBQ blowout tasting

Peach purée baby food colored with a thin ring of tiny bubbles.
The first whiff was all oranges, then it quickly turned into this weird wet hair/bad perm, a kind of funk that I just don’t like, which is surprising because I usually love all things funky and no one else at the tasting picked this up, so maybe it’s me.
The initial sips were astringent like unripe bananas, but it smoothed over eventually to blossom in fairly flowery tones and got better with each sip, but overall it didn’t do anything for me. I’ll have to try this one again, so for now it gets a passing grade.

Cloudy light yellow banana-like body with an initially medium white head. This is a nice soft floral and perfumy beer. The malts are crisp and the hopping is generous but very soft. Smooth taste comprising of flower petals, a little citrus fruit, banana and vanilla. Very aromatic. Overall impression of drinking an ice-cream. A superior everyday beer. A beer for me. To all those who say I have a god complex, see, there’s nothing wrong with me, this beer suits me just fine.

Murky golden with a white head. Aromas of citrus and banana. Bitter at first with a follow up with a dry nice finish. Unique taste but has its own personality. I like it.

12 oz bottle. Hazy gold with a big white head. Sweet bread and lemongrass nose, some perfume and orange notes. Surprising initial bite, a dry, bitter grass flavor, followed by white grapefruit and bread. Crisp, lively mouthfeel, but not from carbonation - the flavors really wake your tongue up! Sharp, grassy finish. More like a hopped up saison than a golden ale, but an excellent beer whatever you call it. A pleasant surprise!

(Rating #1052)

draft- pale yellow in appearence, white head, big lemon/citrus hop flavor that I enjoyed quite a bit. My friend and I were not quite sure what kind of beer this was, but it was nice and refreshing on a late spring night. Would buy again. Friend really thought it had a sour apple thing going on that I noticed other raters had mentioned, but I did not get that.

12oz brown bottle from Florian’s. Very hazy yellow body with a half inch of white head. Smells malty with a good dose of floral hops. Tastes like citrussy pithy floral hops with caramel malt making a nice malt backbone. The mix of hops is really nice. Lighter bodied with only a moderate amount of carbonation. The great flavor and light mouthfeel make this a really drinkable beer. It has the perfect balance of full flavor and refreshing drinkability. Good stuff.

Cloudy pale yellow appearance, Aroma of alcohol and bananas. Flavor is a bit mysterious, a little bitter. Decent balance, Flavor of a pine like candy, flavors come out more and more with every sip.
