Commercial Description:
Beer of the Gods is an unusual blend of styles from Old Germany. We’ve taken the pale Pilsner malt used for Cologne’s famed Kölsch style and loads of spicy noble hops used in the best Altbier from nearby Dusseldorf. And we’ve topped it off with a liberal dose of extra aroma hops during a lengthy lagering stage. The result? An American beer that blends the best of two old world classics: a beer as drinkable as the very best Kölsch that satisfies like a supreme Altbier. Think of it as a German-style Farmhouse Ale. Beer of the Gods is, of course, unpasteurized and unfiltered. Alcohol content is 4.9%.

Bottled. A hazy light golden beer with a thin lazing white head. The aroma is sweet malty with flowery hoppy notes - German hops? The flavor is sweet malty with citrusy and flowery hop notes.

Bottle at home ... Golden yellow ... sweet very lemony ... little white wine nose ... bit thin ... but what an intense front kick ... tart and citric ... with intense hop ... quite bitter ... the more i have of this there more it makes me think of an intense version of Harviestoun bitter and twisted of which im more familiar with.

Pours a pale cloudy golden with a wispy-lacing covering of white head. Aroma of pale 2-row malt with a touch of lemongrass and black pepper. Body starts with effervescent carbonation, mild doughy yeasty pale malty sweetness and some bitter pepper notes before a drier, earthy bitter finish. A pretty interesting beer, but a touch too bitter in the finish for my tastes.

Poured a translucent straw yellow with a clumpy white head. Doesn’t smell like a whole lot, there are hints of spice, straw/hay, light malt. Flavor is mostly light malt with a sourness thats more European yeast than lemon. Finish is watery. Drinkable but very forgettable.

Bottle - Poured a very cloudy yellow in color with almost no head. Low carbonation. Aroma is medium of floral hopiness with some malty sweetness. Flavor is hoppy with some fairly intense hop bitterness Nicely bitter, but not much else...

Bottle: Very light yellow, but opaque and cloudy with some swirling sediment. Nice big poofy top. The aroma is light and citricly sweet. This drinks with a real sharp citirc bite, almost pure lemony sting. Very light in character, body and temperment. (#3249, 12/16/2007)

Bottled. Aroma is quite hoppy. It has grapefruit and citron in it. Also some grassy tones. Hazy, yellow coloured with a lasting, white, medium head. Some small flakes floating around. Taste is quite sharp bitter. It has grapefruit and lemon hops. Not too good, too sharp... uh oh.
