Commercial Description:
Beer of the Gods is an unusual blend of styles from Old Germany. We’ve taken the pale Pilsner malt used for Cologne’s famed Kölsch style and loads of spicy noble hops used in the best Altbier from nearby Dusseldorf. And we’ve topped it off with a liberal dose of extra aroma hops during a lengthy lagering stage. The result? An American beer that blends the best of two old world classics: a beer as drinkable as the very best Kölsch that satisfies like a supreme Altbier. Think of it as a German-style Farmhouse Ale. Beer of the Gods is, of course, unpasteurized and unfiltered. Alcohol content is 4.9%.

12oz - Yellow Gold liquid with an internal glow, light tan head, Bright, grassy hop note on nose. Dry, hoppy greeting on palate, followed by layered but not overpowering bitter finish. Good

Pours a hazy golden color with a ring of white lace. Aroma of citrus, pepper and hops. Good flavor of citrus and hops with a mild bitter finish. The body is light to medium with a creamy texture and moderate carbonation. A nice, refreshing beer.

Pours a cloudy cake-yellow with a creamy, steamed milk like head that settles but doesn’t die out. Instantly I think Zinnebir, due to the fresh grass and golden cake notes, only this beer is hoppier, somewhat sweeter, and with a slightly less enchanting malt profile. Being unfiltered really helps with the mouthfeel, which is creamy. Something about it reminded me of a pilsener but it’s hard to describe. the important thing is that the beer is very very well made and interesting, but still what most would consider a session beer. If this beer were more readily available I think it would be extremely popular, which is astrange thing to say about a beer so well made. I plan on having many of these in my lifetime.

Fully hazy ochre-yellow beer with a small, but stable white head. USA hopsnose, imposing but not overwhelming, and a small spicy background. Fresh hops, and a taste of lightly baked quiche of cake bottom. Light, refreshing palate, not empty. Light, but nice - could be drinking this for a long time.

Bottle @ GBBF 2007, London. Light unclear light yellow color with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly lasting, white head. Aroma is light to moderate hoppy, pine, citurs, acidic (spicy). Flavor is light to moderate sweet, light acidic and bitter with a average duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft to flat.

Cloudy golden color beneath a thick frothy white head. Aroma of doughy malts and dusty yeast. Crisp, clean malts balanced by a light hop bitterness and just a touch of fruit-like sweetness in the finish. Very nice beer and quite quaffable too.
