tap at brewery: hmm, i was kind of discouraged by this ale. Pours a nice deep mahogony color with a little red around the rim of glass. aroma was slightly sugary/spice/with a hit of earthy tones(grass), not common in brown ales. flavor was slightly nutty, a tad leathery also. palate was just a tad thin. not a bad brew.

[At GABF 2004] An unclear brown beer with a fine orange head. The aroma is sweet and primarily roasty, while the flavor is sweet with hints of nuts. More powerful than an English Brown Ale, but lacking something compared to its American cousins.
